Job Description Job Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic Job Description This role involves installing new HVAC rooftop units (RTUs) and associated ductwork on commercial construction sites. You will work with stainless steel and galvanized duct, perform duct fabrication and installation, and install VAV boxes, piping, and controls. You will also interpret blueprints, complete layouts, and support retrofit and air conditioning installations in an outdoor construction environment. Responsibilities • Install new HVAC rooftop units (RTUs) on commercial construction sites., • Install and hang stainless steel and galvanized ductwork in accordance with project specifications., • Fabricate sheet metal duct, fittings, and related components as required for the installation., • Install and set up VAV (Variable Air Volume) boxes and associated duct connections., • Perform retrofit work on existing HVAC systems, including duct modifications and upgrades., • Support air conditioning installations, including piping and controls, to ensure proper system operation., • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to complete accurate layouts., • Lay out duct runs, equipment locations, and penetrations based on plans and site conditions., • Use appropriate brazing and soldering techniques for HVAC piping and connections., • Ensure all work meets applicable codes, safety standards, and project requirements., • Use and maintain personal tools and PPE safely and effectively on the job site. Work Environment This role is based on active commercial construction sites and requires working outdoors for the majority of the day. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will work with stainless steel and galvanized duct, HVAC RTUs, VAV boxes, piping, and controls, using typical sheet metal and HVAC installation tools. You must provide your own tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) and be comfortable working in varying weather conditions while following all site safety protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tampa, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
