Job Description JUNIOR DEVOPS ENGINEER Location; Newport Beach, CA JOB DESCRIPTION As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you will support the design, implementation, and operation of DevOps capabilities that enable reliable, secure, and scalable software delivery. You will work closely with senior DevOps engineers, developers, and platform teams to automate processes, maintain cloud infrastructure, and respond to operational issues while continuing to build your technical skills. This role will be reporting to the Senior DevOps Engineer under the Head of Technology Platform Operations in the Workforce Benefits Division and the role will be located in Newport Beach, CA. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • DevOps and CI/CD Support: Assist with building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment processes., • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Support infrastructure management using tools such as Terraform or Ansible under the guidance of senior engineers., • Cloud and Platform Operations: Help maintain cloud environments (primarily AWS), including basic networking, tagging, scaling, and configuration best practices., • Monitoring and Incident Support: Assist with monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting in lower environments and production, escalating issues as needed, • Security and Compliance Awareness: Follow established security, DevSecOps, and compliance standards and collaborate with security teams when needed., • Service Management: Participate in incident, change, and release processes aligned with ITIL practices., • Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation for processes, configurations, and operational procedures., • Continuous Improvement: Learn and apply DevOps best practices while contributing ideas for improving reliability, automation, and efficiency. QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 3+ years of experience in a DevOps Engineering role., • Experience with automated software build, test, and deployment., • Experience with agile (e.g., SAFe Agile) and DevOps concepts and methodologies., • Experience with AI/MLOps infrastructure enablement., • Strong Expertise with networking, port and server configurations, AWS tagging, and scaling., • Service Management experience (i.e., Incident, Release)., • Strong expertise in CI/CD pipelines, automation, Python, and IaC., • Strong expertise in AWS environments, Terraform, and Mulesoft., • Proficiency with DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and Ansible)., • Advanced knowledge of ADO, JIRA, and a CI/CD framework., • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills., • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)., • Experience with monitoring/observability platforms (e.g., Grafana, Splunk).Serve as an escalation point for tier 1 and 2 for complex support issues., • Works independently, receives minimal guidance., • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience., • Strong communication and leadership abilities., • May lead functional teams or projects. WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus., • Proven experience, leading and influencing technical teams comprised of employees and contractors., • Knowledge of ITIL framework primarily in Service Transition and Service Operations., • Embrace the ambiguity and complexity associated with participating in a new business and new team structure., • Experience in the workforce (group) benefits and/or insurance and/or financial industries.
