Under general supervision, the 2322 Nurse Manager (NICU) supervises the delivery and evaluation of nursing care and the care environment. The 2322 Nurse Manager (NICU) performs the following essential job functions: • Manages nursing care in a neonatal/pediatrics assigned area, which may either be a clinical, administrative or community setting; Assesses patient care needs;, • Supervises, recruits, selects, assigns, orients, and evaluates professional and ancillary staff; Verifies validity of staff licensure;, • Ensures compliance with body substance precautions and other infection control guidelines;, • Participates in committees related to aspects of patient care and organizational development/integration;, • Counsels staff on performance expectations and discrepancies;, • Determines staff competency and certifies staff for performing clinical procedures;, • Assesses developmental needs of staff and provides educational opportunities;, • Identifies, investigates, documents, and addresses problems, unusual occurrences, and complaints;, • Develops, implements, and evaluates specialized programs and supervises designated staff when assigned to a specific program;, • Reviews clinical records to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of documentation;, • Gathers, reviews, analyzes, and organizes technical, medical, operating, and statistical data/reports/records and makes recommendations;, • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and clinical services, organizational standards, and utilization measurements in collaboration with various professional staff and in accordance with regulatory requirements; and Minimum Qualifications - Required • EDUCATION: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and/or university in Nursing, Nursing Administration, or a closely related field; AND, • EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a Critical Care Registered Nurse in a general acute care hospital within the last five (5) years; AND Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: The stated desirable qualifications may be considered at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring. • Two (2) years of work experience, working in a public health acute care hospital., • One (1) year within the last five (5) years in a leadership position - charge nurse/nurse manager/clinical educator in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU)., • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification Additional Information Selection Procedures: After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following. Training and Experience (T&E) Evaluation (Weight: 100%): Candidates must achieve a passing score on the Training and Experience evaluation in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score.
