Position Overview The HR Generalist is responsible for managing and executing a broad range of human resources functions to support the organization and its employees. This role serves as a key partner to managers and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, programs, and best practices while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. This position requires a strong aptitude for learning and developing HRIS workflows, improving process efficiencies, and implementing system-based solutions. The HR Generalist will play an active role in training managers and employees on HR systems and processes, bringing enthusiasm for HR technology and a continuous improvement mindset. A genuine passion for supporting individuals within the disability community is essential, as this role contributes to fostering an inclusive, mission-driven workplace dedicated to empowerment and service. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Payroll & Benefits Administration • Process weekly payroll, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely submission of payroll data in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. Platforms include Paylocity, HHA Exchange, Employee Navigator., • Conduct detailed audits of timekeeping records to ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws., • Ensure accurate processing of wage and benefit deductions, garnishments, and tax reporting, maintaining a high standard of precision and confidentiality., • Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis tools, to reconcile payroll data, audit benefit deductions, and identify discrepancies., • Assist with new hire benefit orientations, providing clear guidance on benefit offerings and responding to complex employee benefit inquiries., • Perform detailed benefit enrollment audits, reconciling HRIS data against carrier invoices and resolving discrepancies. 2. Employee Relations • Serves as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance and support to managers and employees., • Assists with employee engagement initiatives, retention strategies, and culture-building activities., • Supports workplace investigations under the direction of HR leadership., • Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment when handling sensitive information., • Supports performance management processes, including coaching managers, reviewing documentation, and interpreting policies. 3. HR Regulatory Compliance • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies (including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and applicable state regulations)., • Maintains required workplace postings and regulatory documentation., • Administers leave of absence programs, including FMLA and other statutory or company leaves, ensuring proper documentation and tracking., • Assists in responding to inquiries regarding policies and compliance matters., • Supports audits, unemployment claims, and workers’ compensation administration., • Maintains OSHA logs and required safety documentation., • Ensures proper completion, retention, and auditing of required employment documentation and personnel records. 4. HR Operations (HRIS System Training & Maintenance) • Administers and supports day-to-day HR operations, including HRIS management and data integrity., • Maintains accurate employee records and HRIS data; generates reports and analyzes workforce data to support leadership decision-making., • Provides HRIS training and ongoing support to managers and employees., • Facilitates new hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring accurate system setup and completion of required documentation., • Coordinates benefits administration and open enrollment processes within the HRIS platform in partnership with brokers and carriers., • Participates in team and staff meetings and contributes to continuous process improvement initiatives., • Assists with HR audits and internal process reviews. OTHER DUTIES • Maintains reference materials on applicable employment laws and HR best practices., • Stays informed of labor market conditions and industry trends., • Prepares employee separation documentation and may participate in exit interviews., • Completes additional projects and duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY • Hybrid work model combining remote and in-office work based on business needs., • Occasional travel to company locations., • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform standard office tasks. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred., • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role, including experience with HR compliance, tax requirements, minimum wage laws, and internal auditing processes., • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including the ability to work with large datasets, perform complex data analysis, and utilize functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, nested formulas, and other advanced data manipulation tools to support HR reporting, audits, and workforce analytics., • Experience working with HRIS platforms required; experience with Paylocity strongly preferred., • Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred., • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
