American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/30/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Mar 30, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week, • Large acute care hospital setting with 874 licensed beds — Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations, • Unit specializes in Head/Neck and GI surgeries, including tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, colorectal surgeries, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and ostomy takedowns; also serves as medical overflow, • RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6, with surge ratios potentially reaching 1:7–8, • CNA support available at 1:9–12 ratio, • Every other weekend rotation required, • Nurses are responsible for reading telemetry monitors and responding — no dedicated monitoring tech on unit, • EMR: Epic, • IV Pump: Alaris | Med Dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Philips, • No on-call or call-back requirements for travelers, • Floating within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division — CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH)Requirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, • Experience in a Level I Trauma or academic teaching hospital setting required, • Proficiency in general Med/Tele skills: stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, Flexiseals, Foley insertion/management, PCA pumps), • Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF, • Epic EMR experience required, • Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration, • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNAdditional Information, • Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the assigned unit — local candidates are not accepted, • Candidates who previously worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible, • First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered, • Department support includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy (peripheral draws only), IV/VAT team, Resource Nurse (as available), and 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays, • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved (excluding holidays); additional time may be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours cannot otherwise be met, • Scrub color: Navy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
