Job Description LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech Companys is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Architect-SME. This role will provide senior-level engineering and architectural expertise for the design, development, integration, and deployment of cloud-based systems within FAA enterprise environments. The candidate will apply advanced systems engineering principles and methodologies to architects, analyze, and evaluate technical solutions in support of FAA mission objectives. Serves as a subject matter expert in cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, hybrid systems integration, and network engineering. Provides technical leadership, oversight, and guidance to junior engineers and development teams. Interfaces with program stakeholders to ensure alignment of cloud solutions with enterprise standards, security requirements, and operational needs. Job Duties & Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to): • Leads the design and implementation of enterprise-scale cloud architectures across multiple service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)., • Develops and maintains cloud strategy, governance, and architecture frameworks to support FAA mission systems., • Defines and implements infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, and related automation tools., • Provides systems engineering expertise in requirements analysis, architecture definition, and technical design reviews., • Ensures all architectures are compliant with federal security policies, FAA standards, and NIST frameworks., • Directs the integration of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins) into FAA development environments., • Designs and manages enterprise network architectures, including IPv6 adoption, IP address allocation and management, and firewall policy implementation., • Provides security engineering support, including configuration and integration of Palo Alto firewalls and network security appliances., • Implements and optimizes observability and monitoring solutions such as Datadog to ensure availability, performance, and reliability of FAA systems., • Performs system trade studies, risk assessments, and performance evaluations to inform decision-making. Required: A successful candidate will have • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred., • A minimum of 10 years of systems engineering experience, with at least 5 years in cloud architecture or cloud engineering roles., • Demonstrated expertise with at least one major cloud service provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)., • Experience with automation and orchestration frameworks (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)., • Proficiency in cloud security, networking (IPv4/IPv6), firewall engineering (Palo Alto), and IP address allocation., • Experience implementing federal IT security compliance requirements (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST)., • Experience with observability/monitoring platforms (Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus)., • FAA or federal systems engineering experience., • Cloud architect certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Architect)., • Experience with container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift)., • Work location: Remote, US., • Position is: Completely remote, Hybrid (in-person x days/week), • Work Hours: 9am-5pm Eastern, • Travel: 0%, • Physical requirements:, • Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal., • Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance., • Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms., • Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision., • Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues. Compensation (Pay Bands) Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate.
