Job Description AWCT is hiring a District Manager for our Mid- West Reginal office in Dearborn MI, Summary The District Manager provides leadership and oversight for two or more facilities, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction across all terminals in the district. The District Manager directly supervises General Managers, Terminal Managers, and other support positions. Collaborates with executive leadership to align district performance with company strategy. This position plays a key role in customer engagement, sales support, and continuous improvement initiatives, while fostering a culture aligned with the organization's vision, mission, and values. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to General Managers, Terminal Managers, and other direct reports to achieve operational, financial, and customer-service goals., • Collaborate with the President, Regional Manager, and sales team to support business development, customer proposals, and site visits., • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer representatives; serve as the primary contact for escalated issues within the district., • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cost controls for each terminal; recommend corrective actions when performance targets are not met., • Review operational performance reports from each terminal; ensure timely implementation of improvement plans., • Oversee hiring, development, and performance management of direct reports., • Ensure compliance with company policies, labor agreements, and all federal, state, and local regulations across assigned terminals., • Partner with HR and labor relations leadership on personnel matters, union negotiations, grievances, and employee engagement initiatives., • Recommend capital expenditures and process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction., • Lead district-level initiatives to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency., • Prepare and deliver regular performance reports to the Regional Manager and other company leadership., • Create and maintain a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement across all terminals., • Foster a constructive workplace environment by demonstrating professionalism and clear communication with customers, vendors, colleagues, and management, promoting transparency and building trust., • Ensure alignment between regional objectives and AWCT vision, mission, and values., • Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions • Position is based at the company's regional office in Dearborn, Michigan, with frequent travel required across multiple states., • Regular onsite presence at AWCT facilities and customer locations is essential., • Must be able to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed Minimum Requirements • Proven leadership experience in a unionized environment, • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control, • Demonstrated success building and maintaining customer relationships, • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, • 10 years of experience in auto processing, logistics, rail yard or warehousing industries, • 4 years of experience as a Terminal Manager, • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and ability to maintain the same, • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities, • Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and handle complex situations with a positive demeanor, • 10 years of experience working in unionized environments, • 1 year direct multi-level pool billing experience, • AAR Certified rack inspector, • Comprehensive, practical experience in conducting and participating in AAR audits, with expertise in processes, compliance standards, and audit certification requirements necessary to support rail operations to meet or exceed supplier requirements., • Demonstrated excellence in safety and quality outcomes.
