Job Description Title: Student Success Coordinator Location: 4822 N. Broadway Chicago, IL 60640 and 5715 W Belmont Schedule: Hybrid, Monday to Friday (8:30am-5:00pm) Summary: Under the general guidance of the Supervisor of Lifelong Learning, the Student Success Coordinator focuses on data-driven strategies to support program implementation, increase student retention, and ensure learners have access to rapid and effective post-testing with the best chance for demonstrated level gains each year. The Student Success Coordinator works collaboratively with the Education and Training Leadership Team to develop systems that support student engagement and success. They will co-develop teacher professional development opportunities related to content standards and post-test readiness for all funder-approved literacy, ESL, and ABE tests. The purpose of this role is to identify and address barriers to student success and establish structures to encourage measurable skill gains for all learners. The Student Success Coordinator reports directly to the Supervisor of Lifelong Learning and works closely with management and teaching staff across the Education and Training team. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual success objectives, within the framework outlined below. The Student Success Coordinator leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of Heartland Human Care Services. Duties & Responsibilities • Provides administrative oversight and support to improve participant post-testing rates and level gain rates., • In partnership with the management team, analyzes trends in post-test performance across the program and advises on potential strategies to improve program performance., • Collaborates with lead teachers, supervisors, and program managers within the Education and Training team to ensure alignment of priorities and equitable program support., • Oversees the administration of pre- and post-assessments as needed across program., • Leads the development and administration of informal assessments as needed to support program outcomes., • Develops communication strategies to re-engage with participants who exit programming without a measurable skill gain to encourage their return to classes or other programming., • Organizes mechanisms to collect feedback from participants on their experience in adult education programming, and encourages new entry points for participants to return to classes, transitions services or other supports as needed., • Designs and delivers professional development opportunities for Education & Training team staff designed to increase assessment outcomes, increase student engagement, and improve student retention., • Establishes professional connections and consults with subject matter experts in the adult education space, specifically related to adult education, ESL and ABE assessment and student retention., • Maintains inventory of testing instruments, both online and paper-based as dictated by the assessment needs of each Education and Training team sub-program., • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience., • Multilingual skills strongly preferred., • Ability and comfortability working with diverse populations., • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong networker, convener, relationship builder, and communicator with experience collaborating with diverse work teams and stakeholders., • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information possessing skills to handle situations in a professional and diplomatic manner., • A high degree of collaboration and emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical ability., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by Heartland Human Care Services., • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form., • Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision. This role is eligible for a “hybrid” or “remote” work arrangement. If hybrid, it is expected this person would be able to meet for “in person” meetings when needed or at the request of others. In-person meetings may be required on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, etc.). There may also be the availability to work from home when appropriate. Work Environment: • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate., • May be required to work evening and/or weekend hours as needed., • Program sites are located throughout Chicago, including the North, West, and South sides of Chicago.
