Job Description Job Title: Pharmacy Support Associate Job Description This role supports a high-volume, automated pharmacy refill operation by accurately and efficiently filling, packaging, and shipping prescription medications under the supervision of a Pharmacist. The Pharmacy Support Associate works in a fast-paced production environment, maintaining a continuous workflow to meet daily production goals while upholding strict standards of accuracy, safety, and patient privacy. The position requires the ability to work productively both independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail during repetitive tasks. Responsibilities • Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules, ensuring accuracy in drug selection and quantity., • Retrieve and process Unit of Use and bulk medication items from inventory for order fulfillment., • Read computer-generated screens to locate indicated medications on labeled shelves and verify the size and strength of products before filling orders., • Replenish medications in automated dispensing cells to full capacity, including opening and handling large quantities of bottles and cases of product., • Use basic mathematical reasoning to count or calculate the appropriate number of units needed to fill prescriptions., • Operate handheld scanner units to scan product barcodes accurately for replenishment and inventory control., • Recognize, address, and escalate issues promptly by demonstrating effective problem resolution skills., • Maintain focus and acute attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks that require absolute accuracy., • Keep the pharmacy floor clean, organized, and in an orderly condition to support safe and efficient operations., • Understand and follow federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy standard procedures to protect patient safety and privacy., • Process orders for shipping, including folding and packing paperwork, preparing packages, and attaching shipping labels., • Fill, pack, and ship prescriptions with 100% accuracy and efficiency using established Standard Operating Procedures and supported hardware and software., • Perform housekeeping tasks and other duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations., • Adhere to and actively promote the company’s shared ICARE principles in daily work., • Work mandatory overtime as required based on business needs. Recommended Skills & Qualifications • Ability to accurately fill prescription vials with tablets and capsules in a high-volume, automated refill environment., • Basic mathematical skills to count and calculate units needed to fill prescriptions correctly., • Ability to read and interpret computer-generated screens, labels, and instructions., • Proficiency in using handheld scanner units for barcode scanning and inventory activities., • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while performing repetitive tasks., • Understanding of and commitment to complying with federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy procedures related to patient safety and privacy., • Good computer skills for navigating pharmacy systems and order processing tools., • Working knowledge of pharmacy operations and professional standards., • Basic reading and writing skills sufficient to follow written procedures and documentation requirements., • Strong customer service mindset and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members in a constantly changing production environment., • Ability to exhibit a positive attitude and handle adversity and ambiguity well., • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience., • Reliable transportation and access to a vehicle to meet work schedule requirements., • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and consistently carry 20–30 pounds of merchandise., • Ability to stand and walk continuously for an 8-hour shift., • Ability to bend, twist, reach, grasp, and pinch as required for picking, filling, and packing tasks., • Visual acuity sufficient to read computer screens, handheld scanners, and medication labels accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Warehouse or distribution experience is a plus and helps in adapting to the production environment., • Prior exposure to pharmacy operations, data entry, order entry, and medication refills is beneficial., • Experience in pharmacy support roles, including filling prescriptions and working with pharmacy software, is advantageous., • Back ground in customer service, particularly in pharmacy or healthcare settings, is helpful., • Pharmacy technician education or experience is beneficial, though a Pharmacy Tech degree is not required in New York State., • Demonstrated quality-focused mindset and commitment to meeting accuracy and productivity standards., • Ability to align with and promote shared organizational values and principles. Work Environment The role is based in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy production environment that is climate controlled for comfort and product safety. The position involves working with automated refill systems, pharmacy software, computer workstations, handheld barcode scanners, and standard packing and shipping equipment. The schedule for this role is structured and includes Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with mandatory overtime required based on business needs. Team members spend most of their shift standing or walking and regularly lifting, carrying, and handling medication products and packages. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
