Job Description We areseeking an individual to join our team as a Packaging & Warehouse Supervisor at our Moorhead, MN factory. The purpose of this position is to plan and direct efficient packaging, warehousing, and shipping of industrial and consumer sugar and by-products, meeting sales requirements and maintaining customer service standards. Maintenance of packaging/warehousing equipment and systems is the responsibility of the incumbent. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring the food safety and quality assurance of sugar and by-products stored, packaged, and shipped, as well as the safety of employees. Principal accountabilities include: • The Packaging/Warehouse Supervisor is directly responsible for leading and promoting a positive workplace culture through ACSC values. This is accomplished by promoting collaboration and teamwork throughout the company, through effective coaching and development of the team, clear communication of expectations, and provision of ongoing feedback. Additionally, good work is recognized and team members are held accountable for their work product and actions., • The Packaging/Warehouse Supervisor is directly responsible for the work activities of all shifts that run throughout the year; there is no inter-campaign period. The incumbent has overall responsibility for the sugar warehouse, screening, silos, pellet loading, molasses loading, and the Packaging/Warehouse maintenance shop. Driving packaging and bulk loading efficiencies to meet and exceed established goals through managing people, time, and equipment is critical., • Managing the packaging and warehouse areas requires compliance with ACS’s quality assurance policies, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SQF (Safe Quality Food) regulations. Audits are regularly conducted, and noncompliant issues are addressed immediately with solutions developed and implemented by the Supervisor. The incumbent and staff are the last point of contact before the product is shipped to our customers. The review and investigation of customer complaints, as well as the implementation of corrective action, is the responsibility of the Supervisor, working closely with the Factory Chemist to resolve these issues., • The Packaging/Warehouse Supervisor maintains certification as the plant backup SQF Practitioner with the responsibility and authority to lead/assist with the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food System, Food Safety Fundamentals, Food Safety Plan, and the Food Quality Plan. This includes the responsibility to take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System. This position communicates all essential information to relevant personnel to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System., • Compliance with federal OSHA and state statutes in the packaging and warehousing areas is the responsibility of the incumbent, with particular emphasis on dust abatement. Dust emissions must meet EPA standards. The Packaging/Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards., • Supervising, motivating, and developing team behaviors, along with job training, are important requirements of this position. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring training compliance in all areas and identifying the training needs to be addressed by the Packaging Training Lead. This position manages staffing levels to meet a variable and demanding marketing plan with competing and changing priorities. Weather conditions and equipment shortage present additional challenges., • Personnel decisions are made within the provisions of the collectively bargained agreement and company policies. The incumbent works through the grievance procedures of the labor agreement and is a key participant in any packaging/warehouse-related arbitrations and mediations., • Oversight of predictive and preventive maintenance, including planning and scheduling on the computer controls, various high-speed multi-function form-filled and premade packaging equipment, robotic palletizing, and sugar conveying and storage equipment is an accountability of the supervisor. Additionally, the regulatory compliance equipment such as dust abatement/environmental equipment requires specialized preventative maintenance and corresponding audits and corrective actions. All equipment is maintained by packaging/warehouse maintenance staff., • The Packaging/Warehousing Supervisor is accountable for the packaging, toting, and bulk loading efficiencies at their site. Movement of product as planned is an essential part of inventory management and ensuring sufficient storage space to accommodate factory production., • This position oversees the management of outside storage for remelt sugar and coordinates the return of sugar for reprocessing with factory management. When toting operations are underway, additional outside storage is managed by the incumbent., • The Packaging/Warehousing Supervisors assist with developing a packaging production plan based on their factory’s production, inventory levels and sales projections. This is coordinated with USPR who incorporates the plan with the overall sales forecast and distribution model for all facilities. Frequent plan adjustments are required based on changing customer demands and other constraints. Additionally, the incumbents participate daily in planning and development with MAC’s and USPR’s Logistics and Fleet Management staff to develop a clear understanding of the total sales plan, ensuring the availability of high-quality products that meet customer specifications cost-effectively and efficiently., • The Packaging/Warehousing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sugar and by-product inventory and reconciling inventory discrepancies in coordination with the Factory Lab and the Factory Accounting Supervisor. Estimates of inventory are done daily, with a complete official inventory done monthly. The Supervisor maintains an adequate inventory of packaging materials, totes, pallets, and other warehousing supplies and notifies Purchasing when restocking is required. Extensive knowledge normally obtained through the completion of an engineering or technical degree, mechanical and/or electrical preferred. * Five to eight years of relevant work experience in an industrial setting, and/or a food manufacturing environment, is also preferred. * The ability to manage multiple strategic plans in a constantly changing environment while supervising and motivating a diverse work force in accomplishing varied packaging, warehousing and shipping activities. * Strong written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills in dealing with all levels of employees, customers, as well as the marketing companies are essential. * Planning, problem solving and implementation skills are also critical. * Must understand and be able to effectively apply food safety, quality assurance, and safety regulations. * Mechanical aptitude and technical abilities are required. * Enterprise computer systems abilities such as SAP, Microsoft Office products and control systems knowledge are also required. * Must possess a valid driver’s license. Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Some nights and weekends may occasionally be required depending upon season and facility operations.
