Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of a multi-building campus environment. Each technician brings a unique set of skills and expertise, contributing to a collaborative and responsive team dynamic. The campus layout, consisting of multiple academic, residential, and administrative buildings, requires a coordinated approach to maintenance tasks ranging from HVAC and electrical systems to plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs. Technicians work together across the entire campus, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and shared responsibility, which allows for quicker response times and comprehensive solutions to complex issues. Responsibilities • Repair package chillers and equipment, including the evacuation and reclamation of refrigerant, and repair or replacement of coils and filters., • Perform routine preventative maintenance as directed., • Maintain kitchen equipment and dining/serving area equipment., • Clear drains, repair leaks, pack pumps, change electric motors, replace/repair flush meters, valves, ball cocks, and other plumbing repairs as needed., • Maintain assigned shop space in a professional and safe manner., • Replace and/or repair light bulbs, ballasts, receptacles, switches, and light fixtures., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Three years’ experience in building maintenance, performing advanced troubleshooting of HVAC systems and boiler operations., • Skills in and knowledge of theory in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical., • Knowledge of local electrical codes., • Experience in water treatment of hot and chilled water systems., • Good communication and social skills, ability to follow written and verbal directions, and read blueprints., • EPA Certified in Refrigerant handling., • Valid state-issued driver's license., • Ability to perform repetitive bending, lifting (50 pounds), squatting, and kneeling., • Ability to climb ladders and stairs., • Good vision, correctable to 20/20, and good manual dexterity to operate necessary tools and equipment without modification., • Mechanical skills., • Experience with paint prep, roller, commercial painting, and industrial painting., • Service, construction, and industrial experience., • General labor and conduit experience. Work Environment The work takes place in a college campus with a commercial maintenance setting, as well as residential areas in the dorms. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work environments and requires working under the assistant maintenance director performing labor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
