We’re hiring a skilled and motivated Building Engineer for a hands‑on Operating Engineer role — with a clear path to promotion, including the opportunity to transition into a full-time Assistant Chief Engineer position. Why You’ll Want This Job • Pay up to $37/hr, based on experience, • Free indoor parking — rare for downtown roles, • Work for a global commercial real estate leader with international mobility and long-term career opportunities, • Be part of a tight-knit, supportive engineering team in a high-profile building, • Exposure to premier Class A systems, equipment, and operational standards Your day-to-day responsibilities include: Core Mechanical & HVAC Work • Maintain and repair chillers, VAVs, air handlers, and motors, • Troubleshoot and service boilers, pumps, cooling towers, and HVAC systems, • Support seasonal operations such as small engine maintenance in winter and high-volume pump work in warmer monthsElectrical & Critical Systems, • Service utility generators, UPS systems, and related infrastructure, • Perform lockout/tagout, preventive checks, and critical facility operationsGeneral Facilities Upkeep, • Perform plumbing, lighting, and commercial kitchen equipment repairs, • Conduct chemical treatment/testing, filter changes, and belt replacements, • 5+ years in Building or Facilities Maintenance, • 2+ years hands-on troubleshooting with HVAC, boilers, air handlers, chillers, and pumpsPreferred Skills, • Strong capabilities in plumbing, mechanical repair, and work order management, • Knowledge of commercial building systems and best practices, • Great customer service instincts — you’ll interact with tenants, managers, and leadershipWork Environment & Schedule, • 1st shift, Monday–Friday (typically 6:00 AM–2:30 PM), • Flexible start/end times and mid-shift training during onboarding, • After conversion: join a rotating on-call schedule with a well-balanced team of 5 Apply now and bring your expertise to one of Minneapolis’ premier commercial buildings. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MINNEAPOLIS, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
