Job Description A Chance To Grow (ACTG) is a mission-driven, non-profit based in Northeast Minneapolis. Since 1983, we've been empowering children and adults to reach their fullest potential through innovative, brain-based programs. Our dedicated team delivers life-changing services in the areas of therapy, education, and care – helping thousands of children with developmental disabilities, families and teen parents, educators, child care providers, and adults with special needs across the Twin Cities and beyond. We are currently looking for a Lead Teacher in our preschool classroom to become part of a hard-working, highly dedicated team of teachers! Turnquist Child Enrichment Center, a program of ACTG is a 4-Star Parent Aware, Strong Beginnings, NAEYC Accredited Child Care Center. What are some things that make Turnquist great? • Garden with outdoor teaching experiences, • Science room, • Small Class sizes, • Lower ratios, • S.M.A.R.T program, • Full size Gym, • Family fun nights Position type: Full Time Hours: 6:30-3:00 with occasional afterschool activities Pay range: 17.50-21.10 per hour Classroom: Preschool 2-4 year old's. Location: ACTG is located in a beautiful neighborhood in Northeast Minneapolis close to public transit and freeways, downtown, retail, restaurants, and walking trails. Description of responsibilities: The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning individual and group classroom activities that are educational and promoting social, physical and intellectual development appropriate to each child’s pace and ability. The Lead Teacher will prepare the environment, and will nurture children's self-esteem, development of independence, and love of learning. In addition, the Lead Teacher will provide meaningful and consistent communication and cooperation with parents and staff members via Turnquist prescribed avenues. Experience/Education: • Some College credit in education, psychology, human services, art, multicultural studies or any related fields (Required), • Child Development Associate Credential - CDA (preferred), • Experience working with children with special needs (Preferred), • At least 1 year of experience working or volunteering as an Aide, Assistant Teacher, Teacher, or Paraprofessional in a daycare, school, or early childhood center (Required), • Ability to plan and implement high quality, interactive lesson plans, • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in high stress situations, • Ability to work well with others on the team and communicate effectively, • Some artistic skills not required but preferred ACTG provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants.
