The Science Aide will work in partnership with school staff, to enhance access to high-quality, hands-on science learning during the regular school year (August–June). NOTE: This is not a quick to fill position and may have a lengthy interview and application process. This is a new position still pending budget approval for a local elementary school in the Cahuenga Pass area of Los Angeles, CA. The Science Aide position is being recruited for in anticipation of 2026-27 funding. Position Type: Seasonal, Part-Time Schedule: Flexible; approximately 15-20 hours per week Position summary The Part-Time Science Aide supports hands-on science learning for students in grades 1–5 by preparing and facilitating weekly labs and experiments that align with each grade’s curriculum. The role focuses on creating engaging, age-appropriate science experiences in collaboration with classroom teachers while maintaining a safe, organized lab environment. Occasional support for UTK/Kindergarten may be required based on teacher curriculum opportunities throughout the school year. Key responsibilities • Set up and facilitate weekly science labs and experiments for students in grades 1–5., • Collaborate with classroom teachers to design experiments and workshops aligned with each grade’s science curriculum and learning objectives., • Prepare materials, equipment, and lab stations in advance to ensure smooth, well-paced sessions., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab space before, during, and after each activity., • Monitor and manage lab supply inventory; track usage and submit requests for materials as needed., • Ensure all lab activities follow school and district safety standards and protocols., • Support teachers during lab activities by guiding students, reinforcing scientific concepts, and encouraging curiosity and inquiry., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an elementary school or educational program., • Demonstrated interest in science, STEM, or science education and comfort with hands-on activities., • Familiarity with basic lab safety practices appropriate for elementary-age students., • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with teachers and staff., • Experience working in public school systems is a plus., • Candidates who meet the Instructional Aide (IA) / Special Education Trainee qualifications preferred, but not required., • Applicants must pass a background check and live scan., • Position follows the school-year calendar (August–June)., • Open to 1099 or W-2 employment based on 2026-27 approved budget.
