Job DescriptionSalary: $18-23/hr The Dermatology Triage Coordinator serves as the first point of clinical contact for patients, managing incoming messages, calls, and requests through the electronic health record and patient communication platforms. This role is responsible for clinical triage, documentation, patient education, prescription refill workflows, and prior authorizations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate responses while supporting providers and maintaining high standards of patient care. Duties and Responsibilities: • Triages patient telephone calls and electronic messages regarding medical concerns., • Gathers and assesses patient information and determines appropriate next steps., • Educates patients on treatment plans, medications, wound care, skin care, and follow-up instructions., • Schedules appointments and coordinates care., • Processes prescription refill requests per established protocols., • Communicates with pharmacies and external providers as needed., • Documents all interactions clearly, accurately, and timely in the EHR., • Completes and manages prior authorizations for medications and procedures., • Maintains knowledge of insurance participation and referral requirements., • Coordinates referrals and follow-up care., • Responds to correspondence, tasks, and refill requests according to established protocols., • Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills: • Compassion and the ability to make patients feel comfortable., • Accuracy, attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong follow-through, • Professional, courteous, patient, and team-oriented demeanor, • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, insurance companies, and external healthcare providers., • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Ability to multi-task and perform basic mathematical calculations., • Solid understanding of clinical triage workflows, including assessing urgency and routing appropriately per protocol., • Ability to remain calm and efficient in emergent situations., • Proficiency with electronic medical records. Education: High school diploma or GED and Medical Assisting Certificate from an accredited school required. Experience: Prefer 2 years of experience medical assisting in dermatology.
