Job DescriptionSalary: $54/Hour WHAT WE DO Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC) is a Colorado-based 501(c)3 organization that provides professional development services for practicing educators, locally and nationally, and operates the PEBC Teacher Residency Program that trains well-qualified new teachers for high-needs schools. PEBCs goal is to provide training and professional learning to cultivate highly effective P-12 educators who are dedicated to students social, emotional and cultural needs, as well as growth and achievement. PEBC works closely with practitioners, policymakers, business leaders and other stakeholders to advise the development and implementation of sound P-12 education policy. THE OPPORTUNITY PEBC is expanding its talent pool of Professional Learning Staff Developers to include Staff Developers with expertise and teaching experience in secondary mathematics. This position requires a deep understanding of Math Workshop, Math Discourse, and planning for student centered instruction. This position will range from two to thirty days per year. Successful candidates will be added to our Professional Learning Staff Developer Talent Pool and will be notified in advance of assignments to projects serving PEBC client schools and districts. This is an hourly hybrid position and travel is typically required. This position reports to the Senior Director of Professional Development Design and is based in Denver, CO, operating in a hybrid work setting. Travel is required. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING • Professional Learning Staff Developers work with administrators, teachers, and instructional coaches to support the professional learning necessary to improve student achievement and related client goals in the area of Mathematics, as described by an action plan. Staff developers co-create and implement the action plan in cooperation with the school leadership team based on the goals, strengths, and needs of the school, and based upon the PEBC Intake to Impact Model, PEBC Teaching Framework, and PEBC Leadership Framework. Staff Developers work with teachers and leaders across content areas and grade levels. Major responsibilities may include:, • Read PEBC literature, current research, and other professional publications, especially Minds on Mathematics, The Literate Mathematician, All Minds on Mathematics, and Phenomenal Teaching by Wendy Ward Hoffer., • Use the PEBC Intake to Impact Model to develop an action plan for the school or district in consultation with the school or district leadership team., • Design and present learning experiences for whole staff and small groups, • Coach individual teachers, instructional coaches, and team leaders., • Facilitate classroom observations, discussion about professional readings, analysis of student work, action research, and data conversations., • Plan and teach demonstration lessons in secondary math classrooms., • Meet with the school or district leadership team and administration to collaboratively monitor progress and plan for on-going work., • Document activities and progress toward goals using PEBC site report template., • Collect and utilize qualitative and quantitative data to assess progress and make decisions., • Maintain communication between school staff, administration, and PEBC., • Collaborate with PEBC Leadership Coach and other PEBC colleagues as needed, • Attend PEBC PL Team Meetings, Shared Learning evenings, and Staff Developer Lab Days., • Attend PEBC Professional Development events as assigned. For this position, hirees must attend PEBCs Minds on Math and Foundations of Numeracy institutes., • Use technology for instruction, presentation, and communication., • Complete administrative responsibilities required for execution of the project (scheduling, expenses, timesheets, travel arrangements, materials, etc.), • Representing PEBC, and promoting PEBCs work to generate partnerships and contacts when engaged with PEBC clients or working for PEBC., • Participating in and adhering to PEBC Workplace Requirements and Expectations. QUALIFICATIONS Essential Qualifications For this hourly position, you may substitute your experience for the required education. • Secondary mathematics teaching experience, • Secondary mathematics coaching and/or instructional leadership (preferred) WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail; ability to streamline processes. PEBC is committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation commensurate with experience and education., • Compensation is provided for client work time, as well as for attending required meetings and assigned trainings, planning time, and travel time to client sites outside the Denver Metro Area., • PEBC pays for travel expenses when overnight travel is required., • All Professional Learning Staff Developers are encouraged to attend all PEBC Events at no charge., • PEBC has a flexible work environment where employees can choose to work from home or the office, with the approval of their Supervisor, and with at least occasional time in the office; residence in the state of Colorado is required, • Google Suite access (however, hourly staff developers are required to have and maintain their own technology) PEBC provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, genetics, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics.
