Job Description Our organization is in search of a Site Chair for the Department of Medicine and Site Chief for the Division of Hospital Medicine. The healthcare system encompasses multiple hospitals across New York, including our facility. The Department of Medicine at our site is part of the Samuel Bronfman Department of Medicine, recognized as the largest academic department within our system and the foremost academic medicine department in the nation. In your role as Site Chair, you will oversee the clinical, educational, and research endeavors of the Department. As the Site Chief for the Division of Hospital Medicine, you will be tasked with the recruitment, development, mentorship, and performance management of faculty members within the Division. The Site Chair serves as the academic leader of the Department, guiding and directing its research and educational initiatives in alignment with the Department's mission. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the Department's reputation as a nationally recognized clinical and training program. Your responsibilities will include mentoring faculty and identifying new recruits who align with the Department's and the institution's objectives. Key Responsibilities Your duties at our facility will encompass, but are not limited to, the following: * Ensure financial stability for the Department by overseeing the creation, implementation, and monitoring of financial strategies that align with institutional policies and operational priorities. * Collaborate with business development and senior leadership to pinpoint opportunities for expanding Medical Specialties. * Manage the development and administration of both existing and new practices, fostering a high-quality environment for employed faculty and voluntary physicians. * As Site Chair for Internal Medicine, oversee the quality of care provided in the Medicine inpatient service, in partnership with the Medical Director of the Queens Network and the Department's faculty practice. * Supervise the faculty practice of medicine physicians, focusing on process improvement, patient satisfaction, resource utilization, and enhancing the revenue cycle. * Engage in the Medical Board and other relevant hospital and system committees. * Take a leadership role in updating and enforcing hospital bylaws, including the credentialing process for Medicine physicians. * Recommend faculty appointments, clinical privileges, and other employment arrangements as necessary, ensuring that clinical privileges are processed through established medical staff channels. * Develop educational objectives that align with the guidelines set by the Residency Review Committee. * Create and maintain training programs that meet ABIM and Residency Review Committee standards in preparation for future site visits and evaluations, ensuring adequate patient volumes, diverse experiences, teaching, research, and documented evaluations of trainees. * Support the professional growth of junior faculty through mentorship and exemplary leadership. * Ensure the quality of care on the inpatient service. * Advise the administration and staff on the necessary equipment for routine procedures, ensuring that such equipment is available and meets quality standards through annual reviews. * Establish regulations for patient care requirements and safety as needed. As the Site Chief of Hospital Medicine, your responsibilities will also include, but are not limited to: * Oversee the Hospital Medicine program, including recruitment, scheduling, program expansion, professional development, and mentoring. * Develop strategic plans and objectives for the Division, leading key quality initiatives such as reducing length of stay (LOS), mortality rates, and readmissions. * Manage all educational aspects of the Division, including training for medical students, house staff, fellowship programs, and continuing medical education. The educational program should encompass bedside teaching, didactic sessions, conference preparation, and a comprehensive written curriculum. These responsibilities may be adjusted periodically by the System Chair or Chief Medical Officer based on the needs of the institution. Qualifications * Medical Degree from an accredited institution. * Valid New York Medical License. * Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Hospitalist Medicine. * A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience. * Dedication to our organization and the communities we serve. * Exceptional communication, bedside manner, and organizational abilities. * A strong work ethic and a commitment to being part of a team-oriented, performance-driven healthcare system. * Academic CVs are highly preferred. The compensation for this position ranges from $325,000 to $375,000, excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialties, historical productivity, collections, and community needs. Therefore, actual salaries may be closer to either end of the range, and in some cases, may fall outside the listed range. The stated salary range applies to full-time positions and does not include bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits.
