Job DescriptionJob Overview Note: The following job description is for a Commercial Construction Project Manager position based in Odessa, TX. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to project sites across nearby counties while maintaining a home base in or near the Odessa area. Acting as a vital support to Superintendents and project teams, this individual ensures exceptional QA/QC, technical coordination, documentation, safety compliance, and engineering support. Key Responsibilities * Field Execution & Coordination * Collaborate with the Superintendent on daily jobsite operations, trade coordination, and material logistics. * Interpret and enforce project drawings, shop drawings, and specifications in the field. * Quality Assurance / Quality Control * Conduct regular inspections to ensure the quality of materials and workmanship. * Manage punch lists, liaise with subcontractors for corrective actions, and track non-conformances. * Documentation & Communication * Maintain daily logs, photo records, safety observations, and inspection notes. * Support RFI and submittal workflows, communicate design changes, and update as-built drawings. * Act as a field liaison to design teams, clients, and vendors to resolve technical and design questions effectively. * Survey & Layout Support * Use tools like total stations and GPS to verify layout and dimensions. * Support site setup with accurate layout verification. * Schedule & Logistics Support * Assist with short-interval planning (e.g., 3-week lookaheads) and identify potential schedule impacts. * Organize equipment staging, laydown areas, and material flow. * Safety & Compliance * Promote Butler‑Cohen’s safety culture with JHAs, hazard observations, and toolbox talks. * Report unsafe conditions and enforce compliance with site-specific protocols. * Proposal & Cost Support * Assist with proposal drafting, estimate material quantities, and participate in budget tracking. * Contribute to cost-control efforts and engineering documentation aligned with project targets. Qualifications & Preferences * Education & Experience * Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related field. * 1–3 years of experience in the commercial construction or engineering field is required. * Technical Skills * Proficient in reading construction documents, specifications, and survey-grade layout tools. * Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with MS Project or Primavera is a plus. * Preferred Certifications * OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, First Aid, and CPR preferred. * Soft Skills & Attributes * Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and proactive mindset. * Excellent verbal and written communication to interface with field and office teams. * Commitment to high-quality work, safety, and continuous learning. • Communicate clearly with the full spectrum of project stakeholders to achieve positive results., • Demonstrated leadership skills and strategies for organizing all scopes, people, material, tools, and equipment, • Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships at all levels, including clients and subcontractors, • Able to work and perform duties with minimal supervision, • Extensive problem-solving skills, • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, CAD software, and Project Management software (Procore preferred), • Strong working knowledge of project documents: specifications, plans, submittals, subcontracts, shop drawings, etc. Physical Demands: • Must be able to walk the site multiple times per day, including uneven surfaces such as sand, gravel, or compacted dirt., • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to access all areas of the jobsite, including roofs, mezzanines, and spaces above ceilings., • Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, and standing for extended periods are required to check framing layouts, concrete forms, and detailed fieldwork., • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted., • Must be able to work on their feet for most of the workday without the need for extended rest periods., • Must be able to visually inspect small details and work elements at close range and at a distance., • Must be able to hear and understand verbal instructions and communicate clearly across noisy jobsite environments., • Work will occur in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind., • Must be comfortable working independently without direct supervision during afternoons, early mornings, or weekends as project needs require., • May be exposed to high noise levels, dust, and other airborne particles; appropriate PPE must be worn., • Must be able to safely navigate active construction areas, including nearby heavy equipment, scaffolding, and temporary structures., • Must be able to wear full PPE for safety reasons as necessary.
