Position Overview We are seeking experienced Inspectors to be responsible for construction/transportation inspection services on a variety of projects such as bridge/roadway/rail road/intersection/trail repair, replacement and new construction in these NY State cities and locations: Counties of Albany, Broome, Cayuga, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chenango, Clinton, Cortland, Delaware, Erie, Genesee, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Monroe, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Schoharie, Sullivan, Tioga, and Tompkins, as well as the greater Syracuse, Buffalo, and Albany areas. Plans and coordinates field construction observation activities and reviews the work of and provides mentoring of other inspectors. Serves as a liaison between the Project Owner, Contractor, and Professional Engineer having project oversight., • Reviews materials against specifications, prepares change orders, prepares and reviews contractor payment applications, and ensures that project records are being prepared in accordance with accepted standards., • A Resident Engineer must be able to fully express thoughts in writing and compile summary reports of other inspectors. Must have the ability to perform with the highest degree of independence, and effectiveness, in the field or in the office, within parameters established through the project plans and specifications. Must be fluent in the use of computers as a tool to aid construction observation., • A Resident Engineer must be an effective communicator with good written communications skills. This position is often required to communicate the requirements of the project plans and specifications to the Contractor and negotiate impacts to the project from changed conditions., • The Resident Engineer must also be familiar with corporate policies and safety requirements., • Utilize safe work practices in accordance with federal, state, local, and company standards., • Desired 10 years of related experience required, or similar position with experience in the construction field and transportation projects., • NICET Level IV certification or a Professional Engineer's (PE) license is required. Job DescriptionSalary: $20-23/hr DOE Location: Halifax Fan based at CNY Fabrication LLC: 79 General Irwin Blvd, North Syracuse, NY 13212 Reporting to: Functional Field Service and Test Engineer Hierarchical Manager Chief Engineer Purpose of role: To assemble and test Halifax-fan products at the US manufacturing facility under direct supervision of the Test Engineer. Quality, Cost, Delivery & Safety (QCDS) responsibilities * Quality: Know the design sold, and ensure the tested assembly meets that design 100% of the time. If unsure STOP, clarify and disposition appropriately. * Cost: Work closely with all other departments to share areas of concern with build quality, and seek systemic corrective action that prevents this from repeating. * Delivery: Know and meet the Master Production Schedule (MPS) agreed Test/Fitting complete date. * Safety: Maintain a no compromise Health and Safety compliant work environment. Your workspace must be 5S compliant. Key Requirements and Responsibilities: * Fully Participate as a Member of the Fitting Team sharing responsibility for ensuring deliveries are in line with the MPS (Master Production Schedule). * Work with other members of the Halifax team to ensure all parts are available on time and to the correct specification and cost. * Balance Impellers (Using Halifax Fan Balancing machine) and record quality related data. * Assemble and record quality related build information/data. * Final test (Trim Balance) Halifax Fan products, and record quality related data. * Trouble shoot and rectify fan vibration and/or performance issues prior to shipment. * Validate that the product meets the specification and standards/codes of the product sold. * Ensure zero defects prior to release of an assembly to shipping. * Ensure all documentation is supplied with the product. Knowledge, Skill or Ability required * Needs to be a skilled fitter/assembler of rotating equipment or similar • 3-5 years experience in any similar mechanical role. Desirable 5-7 years experience in a similar role. • Experience using vibration analysis equipment and processes. Able to work on their own using instructions in written or verbal form. * Ability to work safely in often difficult to access locations. * Ability to lift and place parts up to 25lbs.
