Job DescriptionJob Title: General Laborer I Job Description This entry-level role supports a busy production facility by performing a variety of hands-on tasks on the production line. You rotate through several stations, including packaging detergent and chemical blocks, stacking finished boxes on pallets, capping tubs on the line, and building boxes. As you demonstrate reliability and skill, you receive training on more advanced equipment such as wrapping and filling machines, with the opportunity to progress into a chemical mixing role. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys active work, values clean and organized environments, and is looking for a long-term growth path in manufacturing. Responsibilities • Work on a production line performing 3–4 core duties, rotating between tasks daily or weekly as needed., • Package hardened blocks of laundry detergent and other chemical blocks into boxes according to production standards., • Stack filled boxes onto pallets using equipment designed to minimize bending, handling cases up to 15 pounds., • Place caps on tubs moving along the production line, with the option to sit while performing this task., • Assemble and build boxes and other product containers to support ongoing production., • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information for tracking and inventory purposes., • Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine work assignments and understand material and equipment needs., • Record the number of units handled and moved using daily production sheets or work tickets., • Move freight, stock, and materials to and from storage areas, production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers by hand or using appropriate equipment such as trucks or tractors., • Sort cargo and materials before loading and unloading to ensure accurate placement and safe handling., • Assemble product containers and crates using hand tools and precut materials as required., • Load and unload cargo using hoisting devices or other approved equipment when needed., • Pack containers securely and re-pack damaged containers to maintain product quality and safety., • Carry required tools and supplies from storage or vehicles to the work area and return them after use., • Participate in cleaning and training activities during the first and last hour of the shift to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area., • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines while working in a chemical production environment., • Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly with supervisors to support smooth, continuous production., • Progress to operating the wrapping machine and filling machine once trained, and potentially advance into a chemical mixing role based on performance and interest.Essential Skills, • Ability to consistently lift and handle up to 15 pounds throughout the workday., • Ability to follow written work orders and oral instructions accurately., • Basic verbal and written communication skills to understand directions and document production information., • Attention to detail when tagging, recording units, packaging, and assembling containers., • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cooperatively on a production line., • Willingness and ability to wear steel toe boots as required for safety., • Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment., • High school diploma or GED required., • 0–2 years of general work experience, including manufacturing or production experience., • Ability to stand, move, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods while maintaining productivity and quality.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • 1+ year of manufacturing production experience preferred, especially in a chemical production environment., • Prior experience in packaging, loading, unloading, sorting, palletizing, assembly, or cleaning in a production setting is beneficial., • Familiarity with production equipment such as wrapping machines, filling machines, or material handling equipment is a plus., • Basic analytical and problem-solving ability to address minor issues on the line or with materials., • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures that support safe and secure operations for people, property, and materials., • Detail-oriented approach to ensure accurate labeling, packing, and recording of units handled., • Openness to learning new skills and progressing into more advanced roles such as machine operation or chemical mixing.Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a very clean, well-organized production facility with three floors, with this role based on the bottom floor. Two of the three floors are climate controlled, contributing to a comfortable and consistent work setting. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with three scheduled breaks: a morning break around 9:00 a.m., a lunch break, and an afternoon break around 2:00 p.m. Production typically runs for about six hours per day, with the first and last hour of the shift dedicated to cleaning, training, and preparation activities. You may work with packaging lines, wrapping machines, filling machines, and material handling equipment, and you handle cases weighing up to 15 pounds. Steel toe boots are required as part of the safety attire. The combination of a structured schedule, clean environment, and clear safety practices creates a professional and supportive workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
