Occupational Therapist: FT Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm Pay Range: $35.69-$57.10 (actual offers are based upon applicants relevant experience pertaining to the position) • Performs a complete Occupational Therapy evaluation on patients referred by physiatrists and department protocol for occupational therapy., • Reviews medical records, interviews patient/family/others and administers standardized and non-standardized tests to evaluate the functional level of patients., • Analyzes and synthesizes evaluation data to identify problems for which occupational therapy intervention is appropriate., • Identifies long and short term goals. Includes patient participation in treatment goals and selects techniques to achieve functional goals, • Maintains appropriate documentation on all patients’ problems, response to treatment, treatment plans and goals, and other necessary observations relative to the treatment process. Provides recommendations for equipment, adaptive and/or assistive device for patients., • Prepares and presents case studies for Occupational Therapy departmental meetings. Prepares charge slips, appointment slips and daily log. Reports patient progress in divisional staff meetings., • Coordinates home programs and the need for treatment by a home care agency., • Participates in clinical aspects of the teaching program as required., • Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive., • Promotes adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program, the Howard University Code of Ethics and the Health Sciences Standards of Conduct., • Attends annual and periodic mandatory Compliance Program training including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy training., • Participates in activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirements., • Actively participates in Health Sciences Compliance Program activities, • Adheres to the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures., • Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, and staff., • Ability to establish priorities and exercise independent and ethical judgement in the execution of therapeutic programs and plans of care., • Ability to test and treat patients with a variety of modalities and exercise programs, • Ability to adapt standard occupational therapy techniques to the needs of special populations., • Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy program, • Licensed to practice in the District of Columbia, • Two (2) or more years of experience in an adult outpatient clinical setting.
