This job may be assigned other functions or tasks as business needs dictate. This is meant to be a general description of the most essential duties only. Clinical Procedures • Collaborate with nurses after each guest admission screen to determine whether a comprehensive assessment is indicated, if applicable., • Complete Comprehensive Assessments for each guest who has a positive screening for a substance use disorder., • Follow the Specific Standards for the Care of Adult Clients:, • When clinically appropriate, utilize assessment information from multiple sources (guest, family, referents, mental health professionals) in the treatment planning process., • Identify specific guest behaviors and set appropriate limits in clear and concise language., • Maintain knowledge of current program expectations, policies and procedures., • Utilize theoretical concepts to guide the effective practice of adult care., • Make clinical recommendations of the next level of care needed and involve guests in the development of an individualized plan for follow-up care, when needed., • Provide legible, written documentation of guest participation and progress in the guest record, • Facilitate group and individual recovery education as directed by the Clinical Supervisor., • Communicate on a regular and timely basis with other members of the clinical team., • Assist concerned persons (family members, friends) with resources for sober support during and following withdrawal/detoxification as needed or requested., • Report any unsafe conditions or guest concerns to the Clinical Supervisor or Executive Director., • Continue professional development in Substance Use Disorder Screening, Assessment, and Treatment. Provide documentation of these activities to the Clinical Supervisor and/or HR Department., • Advocate for the best interests of individual clients., • Assist in orientation of new employees and interns, if assigned., • Attend mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled., • Provide legible, written documentation of guest notes/ progress in the EHR system and must be completed by program and DHS regulations.Additional Duties, • Embrace, support and foster the Company’s culture, Code of Conduct and Mission, Vision and Values, • Other duties as assignedRequired SkillsRequired:, • Must be at least 21 years of age and must be free of substance use problems for at least two (2) years immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact., • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling or related field., • Must have completed 12 contact hours in Co-Occurring Disorders., • Must be Licensed as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Alcohol and Drug Counselor – Trainee (ADC-T) by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy., • Preferred: Master’s degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work and/or related field., • Preferred Experience: At least two (2) years’ experience providing alcohol and drug counseling services to persons with co-occurring disorders.Knowledge of:, • The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual V (DSM-V) Diagnostic Criteria for substance use disorders, • Code of Ethics for Alcohol and Drug Counselors as stated by the National Association for Alcohol and Drug Counselors (NAADAC)., • State and Federal law regarding confidentiality of alcohol and drug treatment records and HIV testing/status including 42 CFR, part 2, • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), • American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM) standards when developing referral plans, • Business and office practice/procedures, • Healthcare industry, especially substance abuse and mental health services, • Technology proficiency with various software packages including EHR/EMR and keyboarding skills, • Continuous quality improvementSkills:, • Very detailed and organized, • Relates effectively with public, peers, subordinates (if applicable), and leadership staff, • Critical thinking and problem solving, • Strong customer serviceAbilities to:, • Work under general supervision as well as independently in the absence of specific instructions, • Demonstrate imitativeness, • Maintain confidentiality, • Multi-task and work effectively under pressure in a high volume, fast paced environment, • Demonstrate work flexibility, • Follow all program personnel policies and procedures, • Effectively represent the company with a professional attitude with communication and interactions with co-workers, guests, family members, visitors, community, and referral sources, • Demonstrate trustworthy behavior, • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with both guests and other staff in an ethically and legally appropriate manner, • Maintain files where discretion is involved in assigning items to their proper places, • Prioritize workload and work within deadlines, • Communicate effectively in the English language, including verbal and written communication with both internal and external contacts, • Exercise sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and good decision-making abilities, • Interpret and apply standards, regulations, policies, and procedures relative to this position, • Assemble information from various sources for records and reports, if required, • Anticipate problems and solve prior to occurring, where possible, • Adhere to professional boundaries, • Adhere and support the Company’s philosophy, goals, decision, and help meet objectivesPhysical Requirement, • Hearing Ability to hear staff, patients, incoming calls, and callers, • Vision Ability to see computer screen, paper documents, patient charts, • Hearing Will experience moderate noise levels, • Speaking Ability to speak to staff, patients and external customers/vendors, • Sitting Approximately 5-6 hours per day, • Standing Approximately 1-2 hours per day, • Lifting Up to 50 IbsEOSIS (formerly Meridian Behavioral Health) is a leader in behavioral health care and addiction recovery services, with a network of addiction treatment centers in Minnesota.
