Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Maternal - Newborn, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 09/16/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in the Mother-Baby unit to provide exceptional care to mothers and newborns. The RN will assess patient needs, develop nursing diagnoses, and implement care plans. This position requires strong clinical skills, compassionate patient interaction, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team. Key Responsibilities: Assessment: • Compile patient databases and formulate nursing diagnoses based on comprehensive physical assessments and interviews., • Anticipate the need for interventions by other healthcare disciplines., • Prioritize patient care needs, reassessing patients as their conditions change or as they respond to treatment. Planning: • Initiate and update individualized nursing care plans, integrating scientific and psychosocial principles., • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members in planning hospital and post-discharge care. Implementation: • Perform clinical nursing skills independently and administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments with accuracy., • Initiate emergency procedures as needed, delegate tasks to ancillary personnel, and document patient care in medical records., • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and visitors, practicing therapeutic communication and patient education. Patient Care Coordination: • Manage daily patient assignments, setting appropriate priorities., • Monitor and delegate responsibilities among ancillary personnel, ensuring cohesive patient care. Teaching and Quality Improvement: • Develop, document, and implement educational resources for patient teaching and discharge planning., • Participate in clinical monitoring and address staff, patient care, and unit-related issues collaboratively. Qualifications: • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Mother-Baby unit is required., • Comfortable managing a patient ratio of 1:8., • Previous travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered unless they have worked at least at 2 different organizations in the Mother-Baby unit., • Current RN license in Maryland, along with NRP and BLS certifications, is mandatory., • NIHSS certification must be completed within 48 hours of accepting the offer.
