Job Description Job Title: Construction Mechanic Job Description A Construction Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of construction equipment and vehicles. This role ensures that machinery remains safe, reliable, and fully operational to support daily construction activities. The mechanic works closely with equipment operators, site supervisors, and project managers to minimize downtime and keep projects running efficiently. Responsibilities • Inspect, diagnose, and repair construction equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, forklifts, generators, compressors, and trucks., • Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication, fluid checks, filter changes, and component adjustments., • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems using diagnostic tools and technical manuals., • Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, pumps, hoses, and wiring., • Maintain accurate service records, documenting repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules., • Operate and test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality and safety., • Support construction teams by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns on job sites., • Keep tools, shop areas, and equipment clean and organized to maintain a safe working environment., • Order and manage parts and supplies as needed., • Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components., • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports., • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment., • Preventive maintenance, mechanical repair, and automotive maintenance skills., • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills., • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred., • Physical ability to lift heavy parts, work in tight spaces, and perform tasks in various weather conditions. Work Environment The work environment includes wearing safety attire such as hard hats, high visibility vests, safety glasses, and work boots. The standard work hours are from 7 am to 3:30 pm. Employees must bring their own personal tools, including basic carpentry hand tools. The company provides PPE such as hard hats and safety glasses, while steel toe boots are the candidate's responsibility. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Verona, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
