Job Description Job Title: Technician Helper Job Description The Technician Helper supports the installation of low-voltage cabling systems across a variety of commercial and industrial job sites. This role focuses on pulling and running cable through ceiling tiles, assisting with installations, and organizing materials while working closely with experienced technicians. It is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a motivated individual eager to learn a skilled trade in a structured, safety-focused environment. Responsibilities • Pull cable and run cable through ceiling tiles and other building structures as directed by lead technicians., • Assist with installing low-voltage cabling systems for applications such as data, fire alarm, and other building systems., • Move, lift, and organize materials and equipment, including safely lifting items up to 50 pounds., • Use basic hand tools and construction tools to support cabling, installation, and general labor tasks., • Support termination and testing of data cables and low-voltage wiring under supervision., • Work safely on vacant job sites, strictly following safety procedures and guidelines, especially when working around electrical and low-voltage systems., • Assist with cable pulling and wiring tasks in manufacturing environments, industrial facilities, and existing commercial buildings such as hospitals, schools, data centers, banks, and office buildings., • Collaborate with project teams and leads to complete daily assignments on schedule and at the required quality standards., • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and serviceable condition., • Remain flexible to work overtime when needed to meet project deadlines and support ongoing installations., • Commute to various job sites within approximately 50 miles of the greater Nashville area, including locations such as Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, and Madison. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of experience using hand tools in a labor, construction, manufacturing, or similar environment., • At least 1 year of construction or wiring experience, such as cable pulling, machine operation, or general construction work., • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically active work throughout the shift., • Basic experience with low-voltage cabling, wiring, or installation tasks, or strong interest in learning this trade., • Comfort working in commercial construction job sites, industrial facilities, and existing commercial buildings., • Reliable transportation and willingness to commute to job sites in the greater Nashville area, including Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Madison, and surrounding locations., • Availability to work Monday through Friday on first shift (approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and to work overtime when needed., • Motivated, entry-level mindset with eagerness to learn and follow instructions from experienced technicians and project leads. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working specifically with low-voltage cabling systems is a plus., • Experience in cable pulling, data cable installation, or fire alarm system wiring is beneficial., • Experience in a manufacturing environment or operating machinery is advantageous., • Familiarity with termination and testing of data cables and low-voltage wiring is preferred., • Interest in building a long-term career in the low-voltage trade and progressing into lead roles over time., • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to travel to different project locations as needed., • Ability to work well as part of a team on construction and retrofit projects in occupied and vacant facilities. Work Environment The role is based on first shift, typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime expected when project demands require it. Work takes place at vacant job sites, and you will not work with live wire, supporting a safer learning environment for entry-level technicians. Job locations include commercial construction sites, industrial facilities, and existing commercial buildings such as hospitals, schools, data centers, banks, and office buildings across the greater Nashville area, including Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Madison, and nearby communities. On the first day, you will report to the office for onboarding and then travel directly to job sites thereafter. The environment involves active construction settings where hand tools and basic installation equipment are used regularly, and work is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting, moving materials, and working overhead or above ceiling tiles. Attire typically aligns with standard construction and industrial job site expectations, such as durable work clothing and appropriate footwear suitable for commercial and industrial environments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
