Job DescriptionDescription: Transportation Foreman Lead Trucking Operations in Heavy Civil Construction Banks Construction Company is looking for an experienced, safety-focused Transportation Foreman to support and lead field trucking operations within our Transportation Division. This is a great opportunity for someone with commercial driving experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to keep drivers, trucks, and equipment moving safely and efficiently. As a Transportation Foreman, you’ll oversee daily trucking activity, support and coach drivers, coordinate with dispatch and maintenance teams, and help ensure our transportation operations meet company, project, safety, and customer needs. This role reports to the Transportation Superintendent. About the Transportation Division The Transportation Division plays an important role in supporting our crews, plants, customers, and projects by safely delivering materials, equipment, and trucking support throughout the Lowcountry. Our team operates a variety of trucks and equipment to support asphalt paving, grading, plant operations, and heavy civil construction projects. The Transportation Foreman helps ensure trucks are running safely, drivers are supported, and daily operations are completed efficiently and in compliance with company and regulatory standards. What You’ll Do As a Transportation Foreman, you’ll oversee field trucking operations and serve as a key point of contact for drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and project teams. You may be responsible for: • Overseeing daily trucking operations within the Transportation Division, • Serving as the first point of contact for drivers regarding trucks, safety concerns, operational needs, and employee matters, • Monitoring trucking activity through XBE, Samsara, and on-site observation, • Ensuring drivers are operating safely, efficiently, and on schedule, • Maintaining a consistent presence at plants, jobsites, and other work locations, • Supporting the safe and efficient movement of trucks, drivers, and equipment, • Coordinating daily trucking assignments with dispatch and project leadership, • Leading crew huddles to communicate updates, expectations, and safety topics, • Coaching drivers using Samsara data to improve performance and reinforce safe driving behaviors, • Supporting driver training, mentoring, performance feedback, and accountability, • Leading or assisting with incident and accident investigations within the Transportation Division, • Ensuring trucking incidents are properly documented and closed out in XBE, • Conducting regular inspections of trucks, equipment, and driver PPE use, • Coordinating preventive maintenance, fueling, and emergency repairs with the shop, • Troubleshooting minor equipment issues to help minimize downtime, • Contacting tire vendors for road call tire repairs and replacements, • Monitoring and managing tack material levels in the vertical tank and coordinating drop tankers as needed, • Ordering and maintaining departmental supplies and inventory, • Enforcing company policies, safety expectations, DOT regulations, and FMCSA requirements, • Proactively identifying hazards, addressing unsafe conditions, and ensuring trucks remain in safe operating condition, • Promoting teamwork and upholding the company’s core values of Safety, Integrity, Team, and ExcellenceWhat We’re Looking For We are looking for a dependable, safety-minded leader who understands trucking operations and can support drivers in a fast-paced construction environment. The ideal candidate: • Has a valid CDL, Class A or Class B preferred, • Has a clean driving record, • Has 3–5 years of experience operating commercial vehicles, such as tri-axle trucks, dump trucks, lowboys, or similar equipment, • Has leadership, foreman, supervisor, trainer, or lead driver experience, • Understands DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service compliance, • Is committed to safety, incident prevention, and compliance, • Can lead, coach, train, and mentor drivers, • Can communicate clearly with drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, project teams, and leadership, • Can coordinate daily operations, scheduling, dispatching, and equipment utilization, • Can work with maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance, • Is comfortable using basic computer systems, including email, scheduling tools, reporting systems, XBE, Samsara, or similar platforms, • Can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, • Has strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, • Is dependable, organized, and willing to take ownership of the work, • Leads by example and promotes a team-first culture Previous experience in transportation, trucking, construction, heavy civil, asphalt, equipment, dispatch, or fleet operations is strongly preferred. Schedule This is a field-based leadership position, and hours may vary depending on project needs, trucking schedules, plant schedules, weather, and customer demand. Overtime may be required.
