Position Summary: The Equity Alliance is seeking a driven, mission-minded Social Media & Digital Engagement Coordinator to amplify our advocacy efforts online. This is a contract-to-hire position, meaning the selected candidate will begin on a contract basis with the intention to transition into a permanent staff role after a successful initial period. As the pulse of our digital community, youll craft day-to-day content, live-post events, and collaborate closely with internal departments to keep our followers informed, inspired, and ready to act. Youll bring our campaigns to life through storytelling across platforms in ways that resonate with Black communities and beyond. What Youll Be Doing Social Media Management • Develop and publish daily contentgraphics, captions, videos, and threadsfor Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok, • Live post (tweets/updates) from key events: legislative hearings, town halls, policy meetings, community events, • Monitor and engage with audience comments and messages, • Track engagement metrics and adjust content strategy accordingly Visual + Copy Creation • Collaborate on rapid-response campaignswriting copy and coordinating with the communications team for visuals, • Design quick-turn graphics in Canva or work with designers when needed, • Edit and post short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Stories) Newsletter + Website Support • Provide social-ready content for The BlackPrint newsletter, • Assist with layout and visual assets for monthly issues, • Update website with calls to action, advocacy highlights, and event promotions Content Strategy + Planning • Represent communications on weekly planning calls, • Brainstorm creative campaign ideas and storytelling angles, • Collect stories and maintain content asset folders: templates, graphics, videos, captions, hashtags, • A passion and commitment for The Equity Alliances mission and theory of change;, • Passionate about social justice and racial equity and a commitment of transformative change;, • Strong attention to detail, planning and execution skills;, • Graphic design skills, preferably proficient in Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign, • Comfortable live-posting and thinking on your feet, • Bachelors degree (preferred) or equivalent work experience in communications, public relations, journalism, public affairs, or related field is required. Political campaign, advocacy work or Capitol Hill experience is a plus., • 23 years of experience in social media, digital content creation, or digital organizing, • Strong writing skills with a political or advocacy-focused voice and a keen eye for proofreading and editing, • Good eye for visual content and ability to effectively present information;, • Proficiency across social media platforms, and understanding of how to grow and engage an audience;, • Excellent problem-solving skills;, • Ability to work gracefully under pressure with tight deadlines and multiple and competing priorities;, • Ability to work both independently and within a team on multiple projects, • Good people skills and an infectious, positive attitude when communicating about The Equity Alliances work;, • Impeccable judgment and discretion in dealing with sensitive information;, • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive), social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), and basic web platforms, database software, project management software, web browsers, and conferencing software (Zoom and StreamYard). Desired Qualifications: • Working knowledge of EveryAction, NGP VAN, and Hustle, and ThruText civic engagement software tools, • Basic video editing skills, • Experience creating mass emails with MailChimp and WordPress is a plus;, • Experience using a race-class narrative in verbal and written communications;, • A sense of humor, creativity and innovative thinking, • Competitive, warrior spirit to clap back in the face of opposition Logistics • Ability to travel multiple times per year, often across the state of Tennessee, including overnight travel for events, stakeholder meetings, and community partner meetings., • Ability to drive. Must have reliable transportation, a cell phone, and a valid drivers license., • Flexible schedule with availability for evenings and weekends as needed Conditions This role will start as a contract position for 3 months. Upon successful performance and mutual agreement, the position will transition into a permanent, full-time role with The Equity Alliance. This arrangement allows both the organization and the candidate to ensure a strong fit before making a long-term commitment. You will be expected to be available at least 30 hours per week and present at all mandated meetings. Compensation $2500 for contract position. Full-time salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. If hired, TEA provides a very generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Unlimited PTO, paid family leave, and a generous holiday schedule, including Juneteenth and the last week of December. Full-time staff work a hybrid schedule with office hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
