Job DescriptionSalary: Mission Outer West Community Church exists to draw people closer to Jesus Christ and each other Values God First | We seek God in all things through prayer and Scripture Community | We live in compassionate community where everyone belongs Diversity | We embrace diversity and unity found within the Body of Christ Service | We passionately serve our church, San Antonio, and beyond Generosity | We are generous with our time, talent, and treasure Job Title: NextGen Pastor Job Type: Full Time Work Week: Sunday Thursday Direct Reports: Kids Director/Coordinator, Student & Young Adult Director Weekly Attendance: 1,200 Job Summary: The Next Generation Pastor supports the mission of Outer West Community Church (OWCC) by providing spiritual leadership, strategic direction, and pastoral care for all NextGen ministries, including kids, students, and young adults, through the development and implementation of a comprehensive ministry plan and discipleship pathway. Primary Duties: • Collaborates with the leadership team to develop and implement a clear vision and discipleship pathway for kids, students, and young adults., • Supervises, trains, and challenges Next Gen staff (and volunteers) to reach their maximum potential through effective leadership, encouragement, and appreciation., • Establishes and oversees a volunteer leadership pipeline with clear roles, training pathways, and a culture of ongoing development and care., • Foster deep relationships with leaders, volunteers, and parents through regular communication, coaching, and encouragement., • Equip and pastor families to be the primary spiritual leaders in the lives of their children, offering encouragement, guidance, and resources for spiritual growth at home., • Build meaningful partnerships with local schools, organizations, and other churches to extend the reach and relevance of Next Gen ministries beyond Sunday mornings., • Develop and implement a comprehensive ministry plan that bridges key life stages (birth, childhood, adolescence, college, and young adulthood) with spiritual intentionality and care., • Provides strategic direction for young adult engagement (ages 1825), whether through a dedicated college ministry, life groups, or mentoring opportunities., • Oversee curriculum selection and usage across all age groups to ensure theological alignment, developmental appropriateness, and spiritual effectiveness., • Manage NextGen event planning, volunteer onboarding systems, and calendar coordination with excellence and clarity., • Participate in the annual budget planning process; manage NextGen budgets with stewardship and vision., • Attend staff meetings and provide insight, collaboration, and leadership to the broader church team., • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Completion of Masters degree from an accredited college or university, with a preference for ministry training or a related degree., • At least five years of paid experience in a similar Student or Young adult ministry role within a large church setting., • At least five years leading and developing teams within a church setting, in a paid capacity., • Experience can be substituted for education. Knowledge and Abilities: • Knowledge of Planning Center Online, Mac, PC, Office, and Google applications and equipment., • Knowledge of principles of supervision, training, and performance management., • Knowledge of Next Gen ministries best practices., • Knowledge of discipleship strategies for all Next Gen ministries., • Knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary., • Knowledge of project management practices, techniques, and methodologies., • Knowledge of budget development, expense tracking/reporting and administration., • Ability to work in a fluid and collaborative environment., • Ability to lead a group to accomplish a common goal., • Ability to work independently with limited supervision., • Ability to be empathetic and gracious in all interactions., • Ability to display relational and emotional intelligence that builds trusted credibility., • Ability to write, compose, edit, and proofread., • Ability to coordinate several tasks and projects at once., • Ability to identify, encourage, recruit and develop culture champions to whom leadership and authority can be delegated to., • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means., • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members, and ministry volunteers., • Ability to perform all the physical, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Occasional lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
