Job Description Join Our Team as a Food and Beverage Associate at our HI Chicago Hostel! Help us create memorable experiences for travelers from around the world. We are currently hiring a Food and Beverage Associate to support our weekly Welcome Parties and special events by setting up and breaking down the bar, serving drinks, and helping create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Position Details: Pay: $18.85 per hour Part Time Type: Part Time Shift: Every Friday from 4:15pm-7:00pm Perks: • Paid Time Off: Eligible for vacation, sick leave and 403b with company match, • Free stays at other HI USA hostels (subject to availability), • Discounts on hundreds of brands, • On-the-job training, • Opportunities for growth within HI USA, • Friendly and inclusive work environment Responsibilities: • Fully set up bar area including moving bar cart, stocking beverages, filling ice, and setting up cups and supplies, • Ensure all necessary signage (permits, licenses, etc.) is displayed throughout the event, • Greet guests warmly and check ID to confirm age requirements, using wristbands or hand stamps as needed, • Serve beverages responsibly in accordance with laws and organizational policies, • Maintain a clean, organized work area during events and follow health and safety standards, • Break down bar area post-event, including storing inventory, cleaning up, and resetting event space, • Maintain accurate inventory records and report shortages to the Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator, • Assist with set up and break down of Welcome Parties and other hostel events as needed, • Report any maintenance, security, or safety concerns to hostel management promptly, • Perform other duties as assigned by hostel management Skills/Qualifications: -Must be 21 years of age or older • TIPS Certification or ability to obtain certification promptly, • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, • Collaborative team player, • Previous bartending, banquet or serving experience preferred, • Demonstrated reliability, attendance, teamwork, and communication skills Physical Requirements: • Requires frequent physical activity including lifting and moving heavy objects., • Requires standing for extended periods of time Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
