Job DescriptionGeneral ManagerLocation: Chatsworth, CA (On-Site Only) Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Additional hours as required) Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 annually, based on experience Industry: Aerospace Production & RepairPosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly engaged, hands-on General Manager to lead our Production and Repair operations. This role requires a leader who thrives on the shop floor, actively working with teams to drive results—not someone who delegates from an office. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong operational oversight, an ability to collaborate across functions, and a commitment to improving On-Time Delivery, product flow, and overall customer satisfaction.The General Manager will partner closely with Planning, Production Leads, Supervisors, Engineering, and Quality to resolve barriers, streamline processes, and ensure compliance with applicable aerospace requirements. This position reports directly to the President.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Leadership • Provide direct, hands-on leadership across Production and Repair operations to ensure daily execution of schedules and customer priorities., • Collaborate with Planning to monitor workload, capacity, and material readiness, adjusting priorities in real time to meet delivery commitments., • Drive continuous improvement activities focused on throughput, efficiency, and reduction of rework.Customer Interface, • Serve as an operational point of contact for customers, addressing schedule risks, repair status, and operational concerns., • Ensure all customer communications are timely, accurate, and aligned with contractual and Quality requirements.Engineering & Quality Collaboration, • Work with Engineering to address open technical actions, resolve configuration concerns, and remove barriers impacting production or repairs., • Partner with Quality on nonconforming material disposition, corrective actions, and audit readiness., • Support compliance to applicable aerospace requirements, internal procedures, and regulatory obligations.Performance Management, • Lead efforts to improve On-Time Delivery, cycle time, and customer satisfaction metrics., • Monitor operational KPIs and drive accountability across teams., • Support training, development, and performance management of Leads and Supervisors.Leadership & Administration, • Maintain strong presence on the production floor; ensure effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making at point-of-use., • Provide leadership aligned to company values, safety expectations, and quality standards., • Report operational performance, risks, and improvement actions to the President.Strategic & Operational Planning, • Develop short- and long-term operational plans aligned with company objectives, production forecasts, and customer demand., • Identify capacity constraints, equipment needs, staffing requirements, and technology improvements to support growth., • Lead daily, weekly, and monthly production meetings to ensure alignment across all functions.Financial & Resource Management, • Manage departmental budgets, labor utilization, overtime control, and cost-reduction initiatives., • Monitor key financial performance indicators, including revenue attainment, cost of poor Quality, productivity, and margin impact., • Approve resource allocation for tooling, equipment, and operational investments.Compliance & Regulatory Oversight, • Ensure adherence to all applicable Aerospace, FAA/EASA/TCCA, AS9100, and internal QMS requirements., • Support audit readiness and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of findings., • Oversee compliance with safety, environmental, and health regulations.Workforce & Leadership Development, • Provide coaching, mentorship, and development for Leads, Supervisors, and key operations staff., • Support hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and succession planning., • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer focus.Production Control & Execution, • Oversee production scheduling, backlog management, work order flow, and shop-floor execution., • Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and configuration control on all production and repair activities., • Mitigate constraints, remove bottlenecks, and escalate issues affecting production timelines or customer commitments.Continuous Improvement & Lean Implementation, • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, and process optimization., • Evaluate and implement best practices related to workflow, layout, material movement, and visual management., • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to reduce defects, escapes, and rework.Supplier & Material Support, • Partner with Supply Chain to resolve material shortages, supplier quality issues, and incoming inspection challenges., • Monitor supplier performance impacts on production schedules and escalate critical shortages.Risk Management & Issue Resolution, • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation actions to protect delivery performance and customer satisfaction., • Oversee resolution of high-impact production issues, customer escalations, and internal roadblocks.Cross-Functional Leadership, • Coordinate with Customer Service, Program Management, Quality, Finance, HR, and Supply Chain to ensure unified operations support., • Communicate priorities and decisions clearly to all levels of the organization.Reporting & Executive Communication, • Provide regular updates to the President on production performance, resource gaps, operational risks, customer status, and improvement initiatives., • Prepare and present operational metrics, trend analyses, and strategic improvement plans.Qualifications, • Minimum 5+ years of aerospace industry experience in production, repair station, or manufacturing operations., • Proven track record of hands-on leadership in a fast-paced aerospace environment., • Strong understanding of production planning, workflow management, quality requirements, and customer communication., • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive performance improvements., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Demonstrated ability to solve problems at the operational level and execute corrective actions effectively.Benefits, • 401(k) retirement plan, • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, • Life insurance, • Paid sick time, • Paid vacation time
