Job Description Job Title: Welder Job Description This role focuses on the fabrication and welding of a wide range of steel components, ensuring high-quality, structurally sound assemblies that meet design and safety standards. You will interpret blueprints, operate welding and cutting equipment, and complete both new fabrication and repair work while maintaining strict adherence to specifications and inspection procedures. Responsibilities • Fabricate a variety of components including A setup, B setup, LA brackets, small components, cubicles, conservators, and turrets according to engineering drawings and specifications., • Perform fabrication of take covers and core clamps, ensuring accurate dimensions and proper fit-up before welding., • Weld components using appropriate welding techniques such as MIG, stick, and flux core to produce strong, clean, and structurally sound welds., • Inspect welds and welded assemblies for conformance to design criteria, applicable specifications, and inspection procedures, making adjustments as needed., • Identify and repair defective welds or components, reworking parts to meet quality and safety standards., • Read and interpret blueprints to determine material requirements, weld symbols, dimensions, and sequence of operations., • Set up and operate welding and cutting equipment, including plasma cutting tools, in a safe and efficient manner., • Use overhead or jib cranes to safely move and position materials and assemblies during the fabrication and welding process., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety procedures and guidelines., • At least 3 years of blueprint reading and welding experience, ideally working with 1/2 inch or thicker material., • Proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds., • Experience with stick welding and flux core welding in a production or fabrication environment., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including weld symbols, dimensions, and tolerances., • Experience with fitting and fabricating components to precise specifications before welding., • At least 1 year of experience operating overhead (OH) or jib cranes to move and position materials safely., • Skill in using plasma cutting equipment to cut and prepare materials for fabrication and welding., • Strong attention to detail with the ability to inspect welds and components for conformance to design and quality standards., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently with minimal supervision., • Experience fabricating complex assemblies such as cubicles, conservators, turrets, and brackets., • Comfort working with heavier gauge materials and large fabricated structures., • Ability to adapt to different setups and product types within a fabrication environment., • Strong problem-solving skills to address fit-up, distortion, or quality issues during fabrication.
