Job Title: Nursery Practitioner Location: Just Little Kidz Nurseries Reports to: Room Leader / Deputy Manager / Nursery Manager Hours: Full-time / Part-time (as required) Job Purpose To provide high-quality care, education, and support to children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive. Nursery Practitioners at Just Little Kidz are expected to uphold the nursery’s ethos, safeguard children at all times, and work in partnership with parents, colleagues, and external professionals. Key Responsibilities Care & Education • Deliver high-quality, age-appropriate learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework, • Support children’s learning through play, exploration, and planned activities, • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress using agreed systems, • Complete key person responsibilities for allocated children, • Support children’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and social development, • Promote inclusion, equality, and diversity at all times, • Safeguarding & Welfare, • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children at all times, • Follow all safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and risk assessment policies, • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately in line with nursery procedures, • Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment, • Support children with personal care routines including toileting, handwashing, and meals, • Health, Safety & Hygiene, • Follow food hygiene, allergy, and dietary requirement procedures, • Carry out daily checks of rooms, equipment, and resources, • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control, • Adhere to fire safety and emergency procedures, • Partnership with Parents, • Build positive, professional relationships with parents and carers, • Share information about children’s progress, routines, and wellbeing, • Support parents with transitions, settling-in, and daily feedback, • Maintain confidentiality at all times, • Teamwork & Professionalism, • Work collaboratively with colleagues and management, • Attend staff meetings, training, and supervision sessions, • Contribute to planning, displays, and room organisation, • Maintain accurate records and documentation, • Act as a positive role model for children, families, and colleagues, • Compliance & Professional Development, • Work in line with Ofsted requirements and nursery policies, • Commit to continuous professional development (CPD), • Reflect on practice and implement feedback, • Maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and conduct at all times Person Specification Essential • Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (or working towards), • Sound knowledge of the EYFS, • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection, • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, • Good communication skills (verbal and written), • Commitment to inclusive practice and children’s wellbeing Desirable • Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to train), • Experience working in an early years setting, • Experience as a key person, • Knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice, • Experience using observation and assessment systems, • Safeguarding Statement Just Little Kidz is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
