Job Title: Business Development Manager – Risk Management & Training (Construction Sector) Location: Chesterfield Salary: £48000 + Comprehensive Benefits Package We are currently partnering with a established and expanding provider of risk management and training solutions, operating within the construction and related sectors. Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Business Development Manager to drive growth across their portfolio of specialist services. This is a strategic hire for a business that is a recognised part of a major insurance group, offering the stability of an established organisation with the autonomy and agility of a growing division. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business, managing key accounts, and delivering tailored training solutions that enhance site safety and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: • New Business Development: Proactively identify and secure new clients within the construction, civil engineering, and associated sectors., • Account Management: Develop and deepen relationships within existing client accounts, identifying opportunities for cross-selling and upselling a range of training and risk management services., • Consultative Sales: Conduct in-depth needs analysis with prospective and existing clients to understand their operational risks, compliance requirements, and training objectives., • Portfolio Promotion: Promote a comprehensive suite of construction-related training programmes, including SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid, IOSH, and NVQs, alongside broader risk management offerings., • Proposal & Presentation Delivery: Prepare and deliver high-quality, tailored proposals and presentations to key decision-makers and influencers., • Experience: A minimum of five years' proven B2B sales experience, ideally gained within the training, professional services, or health & safety sectors., • Track Record: A demonstrable history of success in both new business generation and account management, with clear evidence of achieving and exceeding sales targets., • Industry Knowledge: A strong understanding of the construction industry, including contractor structures, site operations, and the key drivers of health, safety, and compliance., • Sales Style: A confident and consultative sales approach, with the ability to lead strategic conversations and translate client needs into effective, tailored solutions., • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in proposal writing and client presentations., • Working knowledge of core construction training courses (e.g., SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid, IOSH, NVQs)., • Familiarity with CITB funding and grant structures., • Understanding of contractor accreditation schemes such as CHAS, SMAS, Constructionline, and SafeContractor., • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package., • A supportive and collaborative working environment., • Hybrid working options following a successful settling-in period.
