We’re looking for an experienced, customer-centric Customer Service Specialist who isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up, to help deliver the best, most trusted customer service as we grow our business. In this role, you’ll be responsible play an integral part in helping the Customer Service team deliver world-class service to our Savings customers via in-app chat, email and telephony. This includes liaising with internal and external stakeholders and delivering 5* service, 7 days a week whilst continually implementing process improvements and optimising resources. You will also successfully collaborate with our operations, technology and compliance teams to ensure we achieve our company growth objectives. As a tech-enabled business there is a big focus on innovative AI/technology focused solutions to create the optimum customer experience whilst also enabling Tembo to scale quickly. At Tembo we utilise the latest tools and systems to deliver top class service, you’ll own the ongoing training and utilisation of these tools to ensure the team are making the most of the tools at their fingertips (eg Using Intercom AI to automatically resolve as many tickets as possible without human intervention). Proven experience in a customer support or operations role within fintech, banking, or a regulated financial services environment Comfortable responding to customers across in-app chat, email, and phone via platforms like Intercom Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on delivering empathetic, clear and world-class customer service Skilled in triaging queries and issues to internal teams (e.g. ISA Transfers, Payments, Home Purchase) and ensuring timely resolution Experience working closely with internal stakeholders such as the Finance team to help resolve payments, deposits, and reconciliation queries Ability to follow and improve internal processes while maintaining service-level targets and accuracy Confident in using support tools and CRMs, tagging queries, and contributing to feedback loops that improve team workflows Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying emerging customer issues or patterns and raising them for process review Collaborative mindset, eager to work cross-functionally and support customers throughout their savings journey Location: Hybrid, with an office in Central London (1-2 days per week in the office)

They assist with the most vulnerable and complex cases to support customer needs, maximise customer rehabilitation, and provide bespoke solutions, guidance, and professional help. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team that works with all operational areas and oversees Zopa’s vulnerable customers across all products, including UPL, Credit Card, and Auto. This core team are Zopa’s elite Customer Champions and put the customer at the heart of everything we do by handling each case with the utmost care and consideration. Please note, you’ll be required to work shifts from Monday to Friday: 08:00–16:3009:00–17:3010:00–18:3011:30–20:00 • Building and maintaining one-to-one (121) relationships with customers, • Completing customer reviews via preferred communication channels such as email, live chat, and outbound dialing, • Receiving inbound calls from customers and internal teams regarding queries, complex cases, and setting up bespoke arrangements, • Responding to customer and third-party emails within a 3-day SLA, • Reaching reasonable conclusions based on evidence provided and proposing suitable customer outcomes, • Handling administrative work related to correspondence from third parties such as debt management companies, insolvency practitioners, and Phillips & Cohen, • Completing and reviewing income and expenditure forms with the aim of agreeing realistic payment plans based on borrower affordability, • Signposting customers experiencing financial difficulties to not-for-profit debt agencies, • Signposting vulnerable customers to non-profit charities such as Samaritans, • You will have previous experience working in a customer-focused environment, ideally with telephone/call centre duties in a customer service or collections role., • You must be able to deal calmly with conflict and handle the challenges of difficult conversations., • You must be able to communicate complex issues in a concise and straightforward manner., • You must demonstrate commitment to and pride in delivering high-quality service., • You will be familiar with FCA regulations, GDPR, and FG21.1 regulation., • You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, able to draft well-structured, clear responses across digital platforms., • You must be confident using Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word., • You will be an excellent team player who can also work independently and adapt well to change., • You are compassionate, grounded, logical, and objective; able to follow through on difficult decisions.We're on the move!
