As a Water Resources & Hydrology Specialist, youll play a key part in safeguarding our reservoirs, rivers, and groundwater sources. Your expertise will directly influence how we operate our water systemsensuring we meet customer needs, protect the environment, and adapt to the challenges of climate change. Where you fit in: As our Water Resources & Hydrology Specialist , you will: Manage water resource and hydrological datasets, ensuring high standards of data quality and integrity Develop, run, and maintain water resources and hydrological models to support strategic planning, including maintaining model audit trails Use models and spreadsheet-based tools to generate outputs that inform key business decisions and regulatory reports (e.g. WRPR, Drought Prospect, WRMP, Drought Plan, WINEP, SRO schemes) Review and author technical documents, including water resource status reports and modelling output Prepare for and actively participate in internal and external meetings, presenting findings and insights Lead and manage projects and external consultants as required Provide support to the Water Resource Modelling Manager across various initiatives and tasks Be willing to interact with other part of the business and technically support tasks beyond day-to-day obligations What skills & qualifications you will need: Postgraduate degree in Water Resources or a closely related subject Experience using water resource modelling software (e.g. PyWR) Understanding of stochastic datasets and their use in assessing climate change impacts Proficiency in geographical information systems (GIS) Familiarity with rainfall-runoff models such as GR6J Proven experience delivering technical projects in a commercially focused and regulated environment Programming skills in Python (essential), Matlab (desirable), or R (desirable) Strong analytical and numerical skills including proficientcy in MS Excel and Word The ability to run complicated problems linked to water resources using water resource models.
