Engine Stripper Location: Burton-upon-TrentContract Type: Temporary to Permanent (with potential for extension or permanency)Rate:£21.27 per hour (Umbrella)Hours of Work: • Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm You will become part of an experienced and supportive engineering team, playing a key role in preparing engines and components for inspection, overhaul, and rebuild within the rail sector. Key Responsibilities As an Engine Stripper, your duties will include: • Stripping down rail engine assemblies and mechanical components in line with work instructions, • Working accurately to OEM manuals, engineering drawings, and technical documentation, • Identifying, labelling, and segregating components during strip-down activities, • Inspecting parts for damage, wear, or defects and reporting findings as required, • Using hand tools and approved equipment safely and correctly, • Ensuring all components are handled, stored, and protected correctly, • Accurately completing job cards and associated documentation, • Working closely with build, inspection, and logistics teams to support workflow, • Working to production schedules and tight deadlines, • Disposing of waste and scrap materials in line with environmental procedures, • Reporting defects, failures, near misses, hazards, accidents, or incidents within the same shift, • Ensuring full compliance with Company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, and HR policies, • Actively promoting a strong health and safety culture, taking responsibility for your own safety and that of othersHealth & Safety Responsibilities, • Comply fully with all health and safety regulations and obligations, • Follow company policies, procedures, and safe systems of work at all times, • Prior experience stripping engines or heavy mechanical assemblies, • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment with short lead times, • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required, • Good planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities, • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards, • Flexibility to take on reasonable additional responsibilities within their skillsetQualifications & Experience, • Relevant experience within the rail, automotive, heavy engineering, or similar industry We support organisations in their most challenging business areas — recruiting, developing, and retaining exceptional talent from shop floor to boardroom.
