Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Male Senior Support Worker to join our care team. This role involves providing high-quality support within a supported living or care environment, specialising in individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities, autism, or complex support requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to improving the wellbeing and independence of the people we support. This role offers an opportunity to lead by example whilst ensuring personalised, person-centred care is delivered in line with care plans and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management • Lead, supervise, and support a team of Support Workers to ensure the delivery of high-quality care services., • Conduct regular staff supervisions, support sessions, and team meetings to ensure staff development and effective communication., • Support the Service Manager in monitoring staff performance and identifying training or development needs., • Provide direct support to residents with daily living activities, promoting independence, dignity, and choice., • Support residents with personal care, mobility, medication administration, and health needs where required., • Ensure care plans and risk assessments are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect residents’ current needs and outcomes., • Work closely with healthcare professionals, social workers, families, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support., • Demonstrate strong knowledge of mental health conditions and complex behaviours., • Use de-escalation techniques, positive behaviour support (PBS), and trauma-informed approaches when managing challenging situations., • Promote a culture of least restrictive practice and respect for residents’ rights and autonomy., • Compliance & Quality Assurance, • Carry out weekly compliance checks and internal audits to ensure the service meets organisational policies and regulatory standards., • Maintain accurate records including daily notes, incident reports, ABC records, care documentation, and safeguarding reports., • Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding procedures, and health and safety requirements., • Ensure the supported living environment remains safe, clean, and well maintained., • Proven experience working in supported living, residential care, or mental health services., • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a care setting., • Strong knowledge of CQC standards, safeguarding, and care regulations., • Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs and complex behaviours., • Ability to use de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies., • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively., • Excellent communication skills when working with residents, families, professionals, and colleagues., • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital care systems for documentation and reporting., • Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure., • Compassionate and person-centred approach to supporting vulnerable adults., • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care preferred., • Full UK driving licence desirable.
