JOB ROLE Working at LK Bennett is more than just a job; it’s a way of life and becoming our Garment Technician means you will be at the forefront of our luxury business. Becoming being such an integral part of the development of our beautiful products, the Technical department are fundamental in supporting the creation of this ‘way of life’. Not only the custodian of quality, this role is about continuously ensuring our brand proposition exceeds customer expectations, making them feel extraordinary in their LK Bennett purchases season after season. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Working in collaboration with the Design and buying departments, influence the development of an exciting quality centric yet commercially viable range., • Continually challenge the range viability from a fit and development perspective ensuring construction is achieved in conjunction with the high level of standards expected of a luxury brand, • Communicate fit standardisation and quality standards, working with design and buying to support and improve range delivery; create initial specs from the design and buying strategy; maintain accurate Fit Books for factories and responsibility for achieving the Sample Critical path, setting and monitoring the seal process from sample stage through to production in conjunction with the Buying team., • Review the fit and orientation of each sample, dealing with all queries between buying, factories and suppliers with the objective of achieving consistency in fit and quality throughout the product development process., • Through constant liaison with the design, buying and merchandising teams, share knowledge on fabric capabilities and construction to ensure the end result is fit for purpose and in tune with the luxury ethos of the brand; completing and communicating fabric performance standards and product care labelling., • Proactively conduct and lead supplier progress meetings and supplier site visits to ensure quality standards are being maintained, highlighting areas of concern via the appropriate channels; where necessary, risk assess products in terms of safety, with an eye on International regulations as well as British Standard., • Work in collaboration with the Customer Care team to analyse product returns and faults to review standards and improve product fit quality and performance., • Drive a continuous improvement approach within the department and buying cycle through ongoing analysis of customer feedback, benchmarking, fit days, wearer trials, internal retail business partners and seasonal lessons learned meetings., • Keep up to date with industry innovations, networking internally and externally with product specialists to identify and suggest opportunities in the supplier base; provide objective feedback to support the supplier sourcing strategy where the Company has the option to capitalise on value adding, commercially proven new technology., • Be the ambassador of Corporate Social Responsibility via ethical sourcing and supplier relationships; maintain an up to date knowledge of safety and legal constraints and changes to legislation which could have an impact on range development. WHO YOU ARE • Someone with an attention to detail, with outstanding knowledge and experience of multi product development and construction methodologies; with both Tailored and Soft Dressing experience for a premium brand., • Commercially driven, with experience of working with international suppliers and factories fostering a true understanding of the various manufacturing processes and associated costings., • A team player who will get involved in things outside of their remit, and support their colleagues when needed., • A proactive problem solver, capable of making rational and realistic decisions based on factual information to deliver commercial solutions., • Demonstrates flexibility in managing and prioritising workload with the ability to manage upwards as and when required., • Thrives on keeping abreast of current and future fashion and technical trends and it goes without saying that they are a lover of our brand and vision and working with luxury garments.
