The Health and Safety Service (HSS) has a great opportunity for a Senior Health and Safety Advisor. They will help build upon our positive working culture, by working closely with a wide range of staff to provide professional advice and guidance. We welcome applications for job-share, part-time and flexible working arrangements - The successful candidate will use their health and safety expertise, to: Work with HSS team to develop and deliver the University’s health and safety strategy. Support the HSS audit and inspection program. Work with Health and Safety Coordinators across the university helping them to understand and undertake their health and safety responsibilities. Contribute to the development and delivery of health and safety training. Assist the HSS Managers in the implementation and monitoring of the university management systems. Understand and interpret health and safety legislation and develop and review a range of clear, simple, and transparent communications that provide legal compliance. Proactively seek out opportunities within a diverse, complex organisation, building on health and safety professional development. We are looking for Candidates with a diploma in health and safety and membership with IOSH is required for this role. With current and detailed knowledge of health and safety and safety legislation and practice, you will have demonstrable experience of developing and delivering health and safety training in addition to preparing policies and guidance. The ability to effectively communicate, present and engage with a wide range of staff is also important, along with using coaching techniques to support the development of a positive health and safety culture. Joining our dynamic health and safety service team will give you a wide variety of challenges and opportunities, from advising on student placements to involvement in radiation protection.
