CYPMHS Consultant Psychiatrist & Medical Director required at Potters Bar Clinic. This senior clinical leadership role provides clinical and medical leadership across the hospital, with responsibilities as a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist for service users and advisory input on psychiatric and medical issues. You will lead the medical directorate, manage within agreed standards, targets, timetables, and constraints in line with operational and strategic objectives. Your responsibilities as a Medical Director will include: • Administration of the Mental Health Act, Clinical Policy, Clinical Standards and related administrative tasks in respect of patients, • Provide professional leadership and establish, manage and evaluate medical services (including audits or quality improvement) to ensure clinical policy and practice are research-based and of high standard, • Work with General Practitioners to ensure provision of primary care medical services appropriate to patients, • As a member of the Senior Management team, provide leadership, support and guidance to all staff, ensuring best practice, • Regularly engage with consultants and other medical directors regionally to share best practice and discuss strategic objectives and future medical needs, • Chair monthly medical meetings and contribute to clinical governance, • Contribute to corporate clinical governance through regional leads, • Manage medical practice in line with GMC good practice guidance and align with Elysium Healthcare appraisal guidance As a CYPMHS Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be required to: • Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission, • Conduct admission and risk assessments and develop effective management plans, • Participate in the assessment and management of children and young people referred to the service, • Assess physical health and provide leadership, supervision, reflection, and risk management to the team, • Adhere to governance processes, maintain culturally competent practice, accurate records, and safeguarding duties, • Supervise non-training grade doctors and psychiatric trainees, • Coordinate cross-cover for annual, study, and professional leave with other CYPMHS staff, • Participate in on-call duty rotation and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, • Encourage research and supervise trainees where possible, • Develop effective working relationships with GPs, CYPMHS community teams, specialists and commissioners, • Uphold Clinical Governance principles and comply with organisational governance requirements, • Engage in Annual Appraisal Program and personal development planning, • Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures In this role you will provide clinical and medical leadership across the hospital and hold clinical responsibilities for service users at Potters Bar Clinic. You will advise on psychiatric and medical issues within the hospital and oversee the medical directorate to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
