Building a sustainable tomorrow KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM UK & Ireland - BAM UK & Ireland's infrastructure segment is currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. The Senior QS plays a crucial role in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This role involves preparing cost estimates, managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and ensuring projects are completed within budget and according to specifications. Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks will be required a BPSS level of security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered for this role. Your team • Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth, • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, • Conduct cost planning and control throughout the project lifecycle, • Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and variations, • Manage procurement processes and evaluate supplier and subcontractor bids, • Monitor project progress and forecast final costs, identifying potential financial risks, • Prepare interim and final payment applications and valuations, • Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers, • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards, • Prepare financial reports, cost analysis, and documentation for project stakeholders, • Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and other team members, • Assist in dispute resolution related to costs and contractual issues, • Professionally qualified operator with at least 3 years post professional qualification relevant experience or 5 years experience, • Academic Qualifications - Quantity Surveying (HNC, BSc, MSc), • CSCS - White PQP/AQP, • Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, • Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferred, • Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in quantity surveying within construction or infrastructure projects, • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques, • Proficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, QS Suite, PlanSwift), • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, • Experience of similar role, preferred in relevant sector (ie Nuclear and Defence)Whats in it for you?, • Competitive salary, • A wide range of family-friendly policies, • Company car/car allowance/travel allowance, • 8 % matched pension contributions, • Private healthcare, • Life assurance, • 26 days holiday, • 2 wellbeing days, • 1 volunteering day We strive to create an environment where everybody feels welcome and valued.Were on an exciting journey to employ the best talent to join us regardless of social background, race, colour, religion, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability or other characteristics.
