JOB – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer LOCATION – Burgess Hill TERM – Permanent SALARY – £45,000 to £55,000 per annum (plus benefits) My client is a leading manufacturer of special purpose machinery and mechanical systems, supplying into a range of industries. They are looking to take on a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Burgess Hill. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes: • Strong experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or special purpose machinery environment, • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar, • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, and assembly, • Ability to produce 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), • Experience managing or mentoring junior engineers (desirable), • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with production and projects teams, • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BEng, MEng, or equivalent) The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve: • Leading the design and development of bespoke mechanical systems and assemblies, • Producing detailed CAD models, drawings, and supporting documentation, • Reviewing and approving design work produced by junior engineers, • Liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure design intent and manufacturability, • Supporting prototype builds, testing, and validation, • Managing design projects from concept to completion, • Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation within the design department If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up-to-date CV as soon as possible, along with your availability and salary expectations.
