The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and student-focused Lecturer to deliver teaching on the BSc (Hons) Public Health with Foundation Year programme. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching, curriculum development, student support, assessment, scholarship and quality enhancement while promoting an outstanding student experience. Key Responsibilities Learning and Teaching • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops and practical learning sessions., • Develop and continuously review teaching materials, module guides and learning resources to ensure they remain current, inclusive and aligned with programme learning outcomes., • Deliver high-quality teaching using a range of innovative, blended and technology-enhanced learning approaches., • Maintain accurate records of attendance, engagement and student progress. Student Support • Provide academic guidance, tutorials and timely feedback to support student achievement., • Monitor student attendance, engagement and progression, identifying students requiring additional support., • Work collaboratively with Student Success Tutors (SSTs), Wellbeing Services and Academic Services to support student success., • Refer students to appropriate support services where academic, personal or wellbeing concerns are identified. Assessment and Quality Assurance • Design, deliver and mark assessments in accordance with programme and awarding partner requirements., • Provide constructive and timely feedback to students., • Participate in moderation, standardisation and examination boards., • Maintain academic standards and promote academic integrity., • Ensure compliance with internal policies and quality assurance procedures. Curriculum Development • Contribute to curriculum design, review and continuous enhancement., • Ensure teaching content reflects current public health practice, research and policy developments., • Support programme validation, review and quality enhancement activities where required. Scholarship and Research • Engage in scholarly activity and continuing professional development., • Maintain subject knowledge through research, professional practice and engagement with the wider academic community., • Contribute to conferences, publications, collaborative projects and knowledge exchange activities where appropriate., • Encourage research-informed teaching and evidence-based practice. Collaboration • Work collaboratively with the Course Director, Module Leaders and academic colleagues to ensure effective programme delivery., • Liaise with Academic Services, Quality and Compliance, Assessment, Learning and Teaching and Student Engagement teams., • Participate in departmental meetings, staff development activities and institutional events., • Support student recruitment activities, Open Days and outreach events. Professional Responsibilities • Maintain accurate academic records and documentation., • Promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion throughout all aspects of teaching., • Ensure compliance with awarding partner regulations, College policies and statutory requirements., • Maintain professional standards and confidentiality., • Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role. Essential Criteria • Honours degree in Public Health or a related discipline., • Master's degree in Public Health or a relevant subject., • Experience teaching within Higher Education or Further Education., • Experience delivering lectures, seminars or workshops., • Experience designing and assessing student work., • Excellent communication and presentation skills., • Strong organisational and time management skills., • Ability to motivate and engage diverse student groups., • Good digital literacy, including Virtual Learning Environments (e.g. Moodle, Canvas or Blackboard)., • Commitment to student-centred learning and continuous improvement. Desirable Criteria • PhD or Professional Doctorate in a relevant discipline., • Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA) or willingness to achieve., • Professional registration or membership with UKPHR, RSPH, FPH or another relevant body., • Experience teaching Public Health in Higher Education., • Experience of curriculum development and quality assurance., • Active research, scholarly activity or professional practice.
