Job Description: Lead Electrical Design Engineer / Technical Design Manager (EV Infrastructure) Company: Neertec UK Location: Hybrid/Flexible Reports to: Head of Operations Contract: Permanent, Full-time About Us Neertec is an ambitious, rapidly scaling force in the UK's EV infrastructure market. The Opportunity This is a foundational and highly visible role critical to our UK growth. We need a pragmatic, hands-on engineer who can both design complex systems and act as a key technical partner to our sales team. You will be our technical design authority, shaping the department, building our technical credibility, and leading the charge on our NERS accreditation journey. This is a unique chance to build something from the ground up in a fast-paced start-up environment, with a clear path to directorship. Key Responsibilities Technical Design & Delivery (50%) • Serve as the hands-on technical lead for the design of high-power DC EV charging solutions, focusing on destination charging hubs, fleet depot electrification, and HGV charging infrastructure., • Produce and approve all key design deliverables: SLDs, layout drawings, cable calculations, containment designs, and equipment specifications using AutoCAD, Amtech/ProDesign, etc., • Act as the primary technical liaison for Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Independent DNOs (IDNOs), and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), leading the G99 application process., • Develop and standardise our design processes and technical specifications from the ground up. Commercial & Sales Support (30%) • Be a key stakeholder for the sales team. Provide crucial technical input during early client consultations, site surveys, and tender responses to ensure solutions are feasible, compliant, and competitive., • Develop preliminary designs, budgetary estimates, and technical narratives to help win new business., • Translate complex technical requirements for commercial colleagues and clients, building trust and credibility from first contact., • Play a central role in our roadmap to achieve NERS (National Electricity Registration Scheme) accreditation in 2026, a key credential for our commercial growth. Team & Capability Building (20%) • Shape our technical department. Initially managing external consultants, you will be responsible for recruiting, building, and leading a team of electrical design engineers as we scale., • Establish and champion our technical standards, quality assurance, and peer-review processes., • Mentor junior staff and provide expert support to project delivery teams. Experience & Qualifications – The Must-Haves • Essential: A strong background in electrical design within the UK, with experience in HV/LV distribution, building services, or energy infrastructure. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Amtech/Trimble ProDesign., • Essential: Demonstrated ability to support commercial teams, contributing to bids, proposals, and client-facing technical discussions., • Highly Desirable: Proven, hands-on experience in managing the full technical relationship with UK DNOs/IDNOs, including submitting and gaining approval for connection applications., • Highly Desirable : Direct experience working with or for an ICP (Independent Connection Provider)., • Highly Desirable: Prior involvement in a NERS accreditation process., • Highly Desirable: Specific design experience with DC fast-charging equipment and high-power industrial installations.
