The Role and the Department The Computing and Information Services (CIS) has an annual operational budget in excess of £12m, multi-million pound programmes of change within year, and approximately 185 staff. The Role and Department Each year Durham Centre for Academic Development (DCAD) delivers 20, 10 and 6-week Pre-sessional programmes. These programmes are primarily for incoming international students who hold an offer for a Durham University degree and have narrowly missed their language condition for their main programme. The Pre-Sessional Assistant will support the wider pre-sessional team to ensure the smooth running of the programmes. They will contribute to the provision of a professional, efficient administrative service, supporting a wide range of teaching, learning and assessment activities. About you We are seeking a candidate with strong, demonstrable experience of transactional processes within a Finance Department, supported by an AAT qualification, part-qualified CCAB status, or equivalent experience. You will bring proven experience in managing reconciliations, overseeing end-to-end processes, and ensuring all activity is monitored, recorded and checked in line with audit requirements. The successful applicant will be a confident and capable user of intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office applications, with hands-on experience of using financial systems such as Sage, Civica or similar accounting packages.
