Upper School English Teacher (Grades 9–10, IB MYP) Lausanne Collegiate School is a coeducational, college preparatory, PK2 (age 2) through 12th grade International Baccalaureate World School located in Memphis, Tennessee whose student body represents over 75 different countries. Lausanne is a full IB Continuum School, offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP), and places a strong emphasis on inquiry-based learning, international-mindedness, and the development of the whole child. Job Description: This is a full-time position responsible for teaching Upper School English in grades 9 and 10 within the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). The successful candidate will teach multiple sections of MYP English Language and Literature and will play an integral role in a highly collaborative department where courses are team-planned and shared across teachers. Teachers work within a structured, collaborative model where common units, assessments, and grading practices are developed collectively to ensure consistency and high-quality student experiences across all sections. The role requires a strong commitment to collaboration, flexibility, and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional dialogue around best practice, assessment, and curriculum design. The Upper School consists of approximately 390 students and operates on an 85-minute block schedule across a two-day cycle. Lausanne faculty are expected to be active participants in the life of the school, contributing both inside and outside of the classroom. Qualifications: • Strong background in English, Literature, or Language Arts instruction, • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, unit planning, and assessment development, • Experience with the International Baccalaureate (MYP and/or DP) or similar inquiry-based, concept-driven curriculum is highly desirable, • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-teaching model and contribute positively to shared planning and decision-making, • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and strategies to support a range of learners, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in relation to assessment and feedback, • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) Duties: • Teach five (85 minute) periods per two-day cycle; prep periods will be provided, • Collaborate closely with English department colleagues to design and deliver common units, assessments, and grading practices across shared sections, • Participate actively in regular team planning meetings to ensure alignment, consistency, and continuous improvement of the curriculum, • Develop and implement engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB MYP framework, including the use of key concepts, global contexts, and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, • Design and assess a range of formative and summative assessments, providing timely, meaningful feedback to support student growth, • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and communicate effectively with students and families, • Work collaboratively across disciplines to create meaningful interdisciplinary learning experiences, • Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the English curriculum to ensure vertical alignment from MYP through DP, • Support students’ development as readers, writers, and critical thinkers in a rigorous, college preparatory environment, • Serve as a grade-level advisor to approximately 8–10 students, supporting their academic and social-emotional development, • Sponsor clubs, coach, or support student activities and events as part of the broader school community, • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives, • Perform additional duties as required Start Date: August 2026 Application Process: Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and résumé to Stuart Dunster, Head of Upper School, at .
