Job Description Job Title: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Reports to: Nurse Practitioner FLSA Status: Exempt Summary: As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), you will be responsible for providing anesthesia care to patients undergoing fertility-related surgical procedures, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg retrieval, embryo transfer, and other reproductive surgeries. Working closely with our clinical team, you will assess patients, develop anesthesia plans, administer anesthesia, and monitor patients' vital signs and anesthesia levels throughout their procedures. Your expertise in anesthesia administration and patient care will contribute to the safety, comfort, and successful outcomes of our patients' fertility treatments. Required Duties and Responsibilities: Preoperative Assessment and Planning: * Conduct thorough preoperative assessments of patients undergoing fertility-related surgical procedures, reviewing medical history, current medications, and anesthesia considerations. * Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other members of the clinical team to develop individualized anesthesia care plans based on patients' medical conditions, procedure requirements, and preferences. * Educate patients about the anesthesia process, potential risks and benefits, and postoperative expectations, addressing any questions or concerns they may have. Anesthesia Administration: * Administer various types of anesthesia, including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and conscious sedation, using appropriate techniques and medications based on patients' needs and procedural requirements. * Monitor patients' vital signs, anesthesia levels, and physiologic responses throughout the surgical procedure, adjusting anesthesia dosages and techniques as necessary to maintain patient safety and comfort. * Anticipate and manage potential anesthesia-related complications or emergencies, implementing appropriate interventions and collaborating with the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Postoperative Care and Monitoring: * Provide post-anesthesia care and monitoring to patients recovering from fertility-related surgical procedures, assessing their respiratory status, pain level, and overall recovery progress. * Manage postoperative pain through the administration of analgesic medications, regional anesthesia techniques, and other pain management modalities, ensuring patient comfort and safety. * Monitor patients for signs of anesthesia emergence, respiratory depression, hemodynamic instability, or other postoperative complications, intervening promptly as needed and documenting patient responses and interventions. Patient Safety and Quality Assurance: * Adhere to established anesthesia protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements governing anesthesia practice in the clinic setting, including infection control, medication safety, and equipment maintenance. * Participate in quality assurance activities, peer review, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance the safety, efficiency, and quality of anesthesia care provided to patients. * Maintain proficiency in anesthesia techniques, equipment operation, and emergency protocols through ongoing education, training, and professional development activities. Education/Experience: * Master's degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program. * Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). * Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as a CRNA, with experience in anesthesia administration for surgical procedures, preferably in a surgical or ambulatory care setting. * Knowledge of anesthesia principles, pharmacology, and techniques relevant to fertility-related surgical procedures, including IVF, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer. Skills * Strong critical thinking, assessment, and decision-making skills, with the ability to anticipate and respond effectively to anesthesia-related complications or emergencies. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with patients and their families. * Commitment to maintaining patient safety, confidentiality, and dignity throughout the perioperative period. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet software and proprietary software. Computer skills include the ability to use spreadsheet and word processing programs at a highly proficient level. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
