Job DescriptionJob Title: Skilled Laborer / Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on commercial carpentry work, including framing with metal and wood studs, as well as hanging and finishing drywall on active construction sites. The Skilled Laborer / Carpenter builds and installs walls, ceilings, stairs, windows, and doors while supporting overall site operations such as cleanup and basic maintenance. The position works closely with other trade partners to help deliver high-quality construction projects safely and efficiently. Responsibilities • Perform framing using metal and wood studs in accordance with project specifications and blueprints., • Hang, tape, and finish drywall to a high standard of quality and appearance., • Build and install walls, ceilings, stairs, windows, and doors as required by the project scope., • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to complete carpentry and concrete-related tasks accurately., • Use carpentry tools such as carpenter’s squares, hammers, screw guns, tape measures, and saws safely and effectively., • Assist with concrete and cement forming and related tasks as needed on the job site., • Support other trade partners on site by performing general labor tasks and assisting with their work when required., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area through regular site cleanup and basic maintenance duties., • Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to OSHA standards., • Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and meet project deadlines.Essential Skills, • At least 3 years of experience in framing and finishing, including drywall installation and finishing., • Proficiency in carpentry, including framing, blocking, and finish work., • Expert ability using a carpenter’s square, hammer, screw guns, tape measures, and saws., • Ability to read and work from blueprints and construction drawings., • OSHA 10 certification., • Hands-on experience with concrete, cement, and forming work., • Strong understanding of commercial construction practices and site safety requirements.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • OSHA safety training and familiarity with construction site safety standards., • Experience working on commercial construction projects., • Ability to collaborate effectively with crews of various trades on active job sites., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished work., • Reliability and punctuality for a first-shift schedule with potential overtime., • Physical ability to perform demanding construction tasks, including lifting, carrying, and working on ladders or scaffolding.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in commercial construction environments across the Syracuse, NY area, working primarily on active job sites. Crews typically consist of 5–10 employees, creating a team-oriented setting with long-tenured workers and a stable, supportive culture. The position follows a first-shift schedule, generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with opportunities for overtime depending on project needs. The dress code includes work pants or jeans and appropriate personal protective equipment such as a hard hat and steel-toe footwear. Work is hands-on and physically active, involving standard construction tools and equipment in a dynamic, fast-paced field environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Syracuse, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
