Requirements Safety and Sustainability Manager Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety and Sustainability Manager to join our Data Center Operations team. This role is crucial to ensuring the safety, health, and environmental sustainability of our data center operations. The Safety and Sustainability Manager independently leads, develops, and oversees all safety and sustainability programs across both data center and corporate environments, applying advanced knowledge to train staff, ensure compliance, and deliver high-level performance reporting. Duties • Independently design and implement new safety and sustainability programs from the ground up, proactively engaging with stakeholders across CoreSite to gather data, analyze trends and establish processes where no prior framework exists., • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures across data center and corporate operations., • Apply specialized expertise in safety regulations and industry standards to conduct comprehensive safety audits and inspections, ensuring strict compliance with local, state, and federal requirements., • Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to mitigate future risks., • Manage the purchase, organization, and readiness of safety equipment across all sites., • Design and execute innovative, data-driven sustainability strategies by applying expertise in environmental science and regulatory frameworks to measurably reduce the organization’s ecological footprint., • Apply specialized expertise in climate risk assessment and environmental performance metrics to monitor, analyze, and report on severe climate-related events, energy usage, waste management practices, and comprehensive carbon footprint indicators., • Collaborate with vendors and partners to source sustainable materials and technologies., • Engage with customers to support their safety and sustainability reporting initiatives., • Design, and deliver via internal learning management systems, timely and pertinent training programs on safety and sustainability topics to ensure staff knowledge and compliance., • Continuously evaluate, update, and enhance training materials by applying advanced knowledge of industry best practices and evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring programs remain current, compliant, and impactful., • Independently prepare, analyze, and deliver comprehensive reports on safety and sustainability performance to senior management, applying advanced expertise to provide strategic insights and ensure data-driven decision-making., • Oversee the development and management of complex safety, training, and sustainability reporting systems, leveraging advanced knowledge of compliance standards to ensure precise, audit-ready documentation for internal and external stakeholders., • Act as the recognized subject matter expert in data governance, applying advanced technical and analytical expertise to extract, consolidate, and validate data from multiple internal systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of compliance reporting., • Promote and demonstrate the behaviors consistent with CoreSite’s culture and values., • Perform special projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment that includes at least two onsite days per week., • Flexibility to travel up to 25%, with potential for increased in-office presence as business needs evolve., • Experienced project management skills, including budgeting, time tracking, schedule creation, scope development, and contract management., • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff., • Ability to operate in and promote a rigorous process-driven team environment., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and safety management software., • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities., • Positive influences with a strong ability to build relationships and drive engagement around safety practices., • Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise both during and outside of normal working hours., • Excellent training skills., • Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports. Education/Experience • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field., • Minimum of 5 years of Safety and Sustainability Management experience, preferably in a data center or similar environment., • Between 5-10 years technical procedure and policy writing experience., • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and sustainability practices., • Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA 30) and sustainability (e.g., LEED) preferred. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Ability to travel is required. Compensation: Compensation for this role includes a base salary between $120,000 and $130,000 annually.
