Job Description Job Title: Quality Control Technician $22-$25/hr Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:00pm Job Description The Quality Control Technician performs a wide range of laboratory tests and environmental monitoring activities to support the production and release of high-quality vaccine and adjuvant products. This role conducts routine and specialized quality control testing, maintains accurate records, and ensures compliance with established procedures and regulatory guidelines. The position requires strong technical skills in microbiology and quality control, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented laboratory environment. Responsibilities • Perform purity testing, viscosity measurements, appearance checks, pH testing, and specific gravity testing on adjuvant samples., • Conduct bacterial and viral inactivation assays on vaccines and adjuvants to verify product safety and effectiveness., • Perform mycoplasma detection testing in accordance with established procedures and guidelines., • Conduct agglutination testing as part of product quality assessment., • Perform growth promotion testing to verify the suitability of media and test systems., • Conduct preservative stability testing to ensure product integrity over time., • Perform purity testing on final products prior to release., • Conduct product safety testing in animals as required by protocols and regulations., • Execute the monthly air sampling program to monitor environmental conditions., • Perform weekly testing of water samples to ensure compliance with quality standards., • Organize and manage repository samples in a secured area, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and traceability., • Perform incoming inspection of shipments, verifying that materials meet specifications and documentation requirements., • Assist in compiling and checking documentation packets for autogenous serials., • Compile and maintain files for all records of adjuvant production and testing, ensuring accurate and complete documentation., • Enter test results for raw ingredients and adjuvant products into the computer database and LIMS accurately and in a timely manner., • Review and approve Certificates of Analysis for all raw materials before releasing them for use in production., • Follow and adhere to applicable guidelines and standard operating procedures, including GMP and FDA-related requirements., • Apply aseptic technique consistently during laboratory procedures to maintain sample integrity and prevent contamination., • Perform general laboratory maintenance, including cleaning, equipment checks, and maintaining a safe and organized work area., • Carry out calibrations, calculations, and titrations needed to support quality control testing and ensure accurate results., • Interpret test results, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in support of quality decisions., • Collaborate with the quality team and supervisors, communicating findings and participating in problem-solving activities., • Complete other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the quality control department. Essential Skills • Bachelor of Science degree or three to five years of laboratory experience required., • Demonstrated experience in quality control, microbiology, and laboratory testing., • Knowledge of quality assurance principles and good manufacturing practices (GMP)., • Experience with environmental monitoring, including air and water testing., • Familiarity with cell culture techniques and aseptic technique., • Understanding of FDA-regulated environments and compliance expectations., • Ability to perform titration, PCR, and other common laboratory assays., • Experience working with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch records., • Proficiency with Microsoft-based applications and laboratory information management systems (LIMS)., • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and correspond in English for general business reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and laboratory reports., • Ability to apply mathematical formulas to practical laboratory situations, including conversions and volume measurements of dosages., • Strong reasoning ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions and make decisions on routine matters., • Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions., • Good organizational and writing skills to track, document, and maintain accurate records., • Capability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and move throughout all areas of production., • Ability to stand and bend for the duration of the shift as required by laboratory tasks., • Good hand–eye coordination to perform various tests and accurate calibrations., • Good eyesight for calibrations and operation of laboratory equipment., • Ability to work primarily in a team environment and maintain regular informal contact with supervisors. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in vaccine, adjuvant, or biologics testing is beneficial., • Familiarity with guidelines relevant to vaccine and adjuvant production and testing., • Prior exposure to FDA-regulated quality control environments is an advantage., • Experience entering and managing data in computer databases and LIMS., • Comfort working with animals for product safety testing in accordance with protocols., • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and documentation., • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced laboratory setting., • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and share test results., • Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and commitment to following established procedures., • Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed to support production and testing schedules. Work Environment The role is based in a laboratory environment that requires the consistent use of appropriate protective equipment. You will work primarily in a basic lab setting, performing tests and operating laboratory equipment, with occasional trips to production areas to collect samples. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with weekends and overtime as needed to meet operational demands. The work involves standing and bending for much of the shift, moving between different areas of production, and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds.
